How do I stop myself from fighting over stuff?
What I mean is, I'm the type of person that cares about everyone. I also know I'm in the place of privilege alot of times, but I also know I pick fights over a lot of things when I know I should hold my tounge sometimes.
For example, somebody on their Instagram story today described their teachers as queer because they were frustrated at them. So I asked them why did they say that and the response gave me was they could say cuz they're part of the lgbtqa group after school. This person is also very close-minded and their thoughts, but I said that they shouldn't use Queer as a derogatory term. They were also complaining about their grades and that's why they were complaining about their teacher and when I asked if they ask the teacher about it before the report card they told me no.
They also stated to me, which I know I do this, that I get offended and defend the smallest things. However has argued against LGBT a people before. They specifically said that it's harder to come out as a republican than it is to come out as gay. So I'm a little annoyed with this person, and they're also still in high school, but sometimes I feel like you can't just give high schoolers the benefit of the doubt. They also told me that being politically correct is boring. Which I understand but the same time whenever I think politically correct I think of being respectful to others.
And this situation, regarding the lgbtq a community I'm kind of like a questioning bisexual, but I also understand that using something like the word queer to make a negative description is offencive. So am I Stepping Over The Line and what can I do to not be so frustrated at these people? Besides remember the fact that they will always exist.
TLDR - how do I not argue with everyone all the time over something I care about, but still can walk away from the situation without being too frustrated?
