christmas Drift.... 🌲
Marianne Faithfull, December 1964.
I am so confused: you've hung your garlands vertically on your tree instead of horizontally or in a spiral. Is that a Norway thing?
Huh. I’ve never thought about it, we’ve always hung them straight down (or rather, my mother hangs them straight down. If I got my way, we’d use them for kindling.)
To be fair, since our trees are wild-grown and taken out of our own forest, they’re rarely full or even enough that horizontal or spiral garlands look good, and usually only vaguely conical (*insert image of the banana trees that we’ve had to set in the stand at an angle so that they would at least point towards the ceiling*)
Some googling does, however, tell me that vertical garlands seem to be the tradition hereabouts.
TL:DR; garlands are awful and tacky and I want to tear them all off but won’t because she who puts them up also feeds me
