La aurora boreal en 360°

El fotógrafo alemán Christoph Simon ha creado una espectacular imagen de 360 grados de la aurora boreal en una zona aislada de Islandia. Simon, que se dedica a la fotografía panorámica desde hace más de una década, viajó al país nórdico para documentar el fenómeno natural. Utilizando una cámara especial y un trípode giratorio, Simon tomó más de 800 fotos y las combinó en una sola imagen que muestra la belleza y la inmensidad de la aurora. La imagen, que se puede ver en su página web, ofrece una vista impresionante del cielo nocturno iluminado por las luces verdes y moradas, así como del paisaje helado y montañoso de Islandia. Me gusta cuando se usa la tecnología y la fotografía para cosas tan chéveres! 😎

We just wanted to share with you the winning story from our recent short story competition: God’s Penny by Rishi Dastidar. Inspired by the publication of Zbinden’s Progress by the lovely Christoph Simon,  we asked writers to come up with a 500-word story on the theme of walking.

An Evening of Swiss-German Literature

Christoph Simon reading an excerpt from his latest novel Zbinden’s Progress to an audience at swissnex Boston.swissnex Boston was delighted to host Swiss author Christoph Simon and Donal McLaughlin who translated Christoph’s latest novel Zbinden’s Progress (Original title: Spaziergänger Zbinden). After a word of welcome by the Project Leader for Art and Culture, Andreas Rufer, the moderator of the evening, Kurt Fendt, summarized the novel. The main character in the novel is an elderly retired teacher who finds himself in a retirement home in Berne. Throughout his life, he has been fond of walking, side by side with his beloved wife Emilie who had passed away. Zbinden tells his story to Kazim, a young Turkish born man who is doing his community service in the retirement home. An amazed audience discussed philosophical themes, ageing, walking and coming to terms with losing a loved one, for more than an hour. The discussion with Christoph, Donal and Kurt was carried over to the after reception with some Swiss delights. Thank you Christoph and Donal for making the way to Boston! It was great to have you here!
