This is probably to celebrate Savers' 20th anniversary which was April 2nd.

On top of that, Starmon is voiced by Takeshi Kusao, who voiced Kiriha from Xros Wars (Savers) and Joe from the Adventure 2020 reboot

Y'ever notice how they keep throwing in a tamer card that breaks up the group? The hell is Ruli doing in there.

I find it interesting that they used the Japanese names for Xros Wars characters despite there being an English dub. I suppose because the English dub was never completed? I'm not complaining - I think changing it to "Fusion" was stupid.

The best decision i have made so far in my Fusion rewrite was making Akari’s team be composed by Bancho Digimon— those being Digimon that she helped along the way to find their identity (as she has the digivice to unlock evolution when she has a strong bond with them. It works just like in Digimon Adventure but Akari development upgrades her digivice and by default it now can evolve Digimon to a stronger stage, i hope this makes sense).

BanchoLeomon is Dorulumon. Not gonna mystery here for something obvious.

I believed this was a really nice Mega form to him— specifically with the whole “not being bound by rules” thing he has in his bio fitting with a free spirit nature that BanchoLeomon has, after all, my version of Dorulumon is carving a new path far away from everything he learned in his youth with Taticmon— going against everything the authority that now rules the digital world stands for.

Despite my version of Dorulumon having a no killing rule doesn’t mean he won’t put on a fight to protect himself and others, he just prefers not to engage in unnecessary battles most of the time. He’s not young anymore, he’s a tired man that can’t find peace anywhere, but still puts on a fight against Lord Bagra army because disturbing their peace is his duty. Also, people can’t deny he’s strong, knowing who he was in the past and how his powers work, y’know? Even if he doesn’t kill anymore doesn’t make him any less respected by his peers, he’s the strongest and still has that fear factor in him.

The others, if you watched the show, will probably be able to guess how they joined her team or who they’re— BanchoGolemon has a Chimchar-like backstory, he was part of Christopher team, but was abandoned for being too weak, and Akari’s since then Hates him with a burning passion just like Golemon; BanchoStingmon is in debt with Akari because she helped him and Lilamon, going in this journey as a fighter that will protect the love that their world still has (want to know his vibes? Listen to “You Wa Shock” from Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken); BanchoLilimon is the same Lilimon we see time to time with the team. We see her more in the manga, although she doesn’t do much, and most memorable thing she does in the anime was dancing with a bunch of Sunflowmon and that one scene where she hides Mikey and Shoutmon with a flower disguise. Here she’s with Akari since the beginning and she learns a lot of things with Akari along the journey; as for BanchoMamemon…. i have no clue who he should be. Maybe Dondokomon will digivolve to Mamemon and then to BanchoMamemon? That would be funny.

As for why i gave Angie those Digimon… I just thought that would make her cool. And with her being the heart of the team, specially in this rewrite where it’s important to her form bonds with as many Digimon as she can, i needed something that would rival Christophe's philosophy directly and his cold metallic vibes his team has— and since i was planning on giving him Darkdramon, the embodiment of everything Blue Flare is, BanchoLeomon needed to appear to put him on his place.

Angie is the of the power of friendship with that one bat with barbed wire she found once, and with Christopher not believing in teamwork, being cruel even with his own team, they would treat each other as enemies. He doesn’t respect her, nor she respects him, they equally hate one another— they equally ask “what hell Mikey sees in you??”

I mean, visualize this: Christopher believes Angie is good for nothing and is more interested in Mikey, but later on she turns into his worst nightmare. She uses the same useless guy that He trained and is able to defeat with him some of his best Digimon. And then there’s her ace, BanchoLeomon, that can rival his strongest soldier.

Angie is a character that is passionate about everyone, and she can’t stand injustice. She’s also the biggest sweetheart, she shows vulnerability, it’s not uncommon for her to cry, specially if something bad happen to someone she cares— at first she was helpless against all the evil of the world, not knowing her power and standing behind her friends, unsure about her place in the team, but now she has the strength to go against what’s wrong.

(The idea may change because i’m never satisfied with myself, lol!

Like, at first i thought her theme would be mythology, with her team being composed by some of the Olympos XII, but nah, Nene should have them. Nene has Mervamon in the original after all, and i really want her to nickname her Digimon, the ones she cares, as planets— foreshadowing what they will become… probably. Sparrowmon is named Venus, being Nene’s best friend and “twin sister”, and yes, she will also have more Digimon, so far, i thought that she would have SkullMeramon, named Mars, and a Icedevimon called Neptune.

They’re the same enemies we see in the anime, but they survived and Nene thought they’re strong enough to join her team. She doesn’t see them exclusive as weapons, but they’re not really her friends either— it’s kinda complicated. They’re more like her employees, not toys, not friends, not weapons. She gives them a name and a new role, if they will accept or not is their choice.

She won’t sacrifice them, but she can get tired of them).
