Voice Actor Chris Ayres Passes Away

Some sad news to share - Voice actor Christopher Ayres, best known as the current dub voice of Frieza in the Dragon Ball franchise, has passed away. A familiar face at American anime cons, Ayres was a beloved member of the Dragon Ball community for his kindness and humor. He will be greatly missed.

Oh man I didn’t know Chris Aryes passed away, he was a great voice actor. To me he will always be my definitive Frieza. Rest In Peace to Chris and my condolence to his brother and the rest of his family

He definitely helped make Frieza feel like, well, Frieza for an entire generation. When or if the character returns to animation I'm going to miss hearing that performance.

Recently, the voice actor of Frieza underwent lifesaving surgery. He had a lung transplant. Ayres suffered from emphysema, which is the third leading cause of death in the US.
