Ellie didn't think about it while she cut the wrap she'd just made in two. She packed it into a Tupperware container and added the container to the lunchbox she was working on. "I think it needs a fruit," she said to spirits that she could hear echoing around. Her usual spirit wasn't around yet. He must have important spirit business to attend to.
Ellie grabbed the drink and lunchbox and headed for the coffee shop. Christopher often forgot to pack himself a lunch when he had a shift, so when she had the chance, Ellie made it a point to pack one for him. She had her faded, rose-printed backpack over her shoulders with her drawing tablet and reference books to do some work while she was there.
Walking in, she smiled immediately at the man, giving him a little wave and lifting the lunchbox so he'd know she had it. Ellie set up at her usual table, doing her best to tune out the energies and spirit traces in the room. She knew no one died here, but some spirits were locked in echoes of their daily lives that included getting coffee in the morning. Ellie had her tablet out to work on her latest commission, but she barely started drawing when Christopher joined her with Ellie's usual cold brew.
"Hi," Ellie said, dimming the screen and setting it and the stylus aside. "I brought you lunch."
