HOLY FREAKITY FREAK I HAVE OS MUCH TO SAY ABOUT HTIS MV I'M LITERALLY REELING I'M SPEWING BLDOD FOAMING AT THE MOUTH how are you gonna call this song "FUN!!" and then absolutely decimate me with this mv /pos NEED to YAP like mmj as princesses trapped in the towers of their past and Minori being their shonen protag knight in shining armor AND THE ENDING??? I wanted to cry (descend with me ↓)
I've been saying this since the beginning but Minori in the MMJ story has such shonen protagonist energy like the type that's naive and optimistic, sunshine-esque, a ray of light for everyone else, listens to their sob stories without even knowing them and then pulls their hand telling them not to give up, can befriend even their enemies, somehow makes everyone fall in love with them, so on
This MV??? This just proves it. MINORI is so freaking cute with her comically large key running around unlocking the hearts of the other girls (gay ah btw) and she's fully set from the beginning on saving these idols. She doesn't need to completely understand them but she just knows she doesn't want them to give up, she wants to return their hope to them. Because that's what idols do.
And the portrayals of each girl's cages... Like Shizuku is a giant, larger than life, so much so that she doesn't know what to do or what she's done to get as far as she's gotten. She's being monitored by everyone, criticized and analyzed, admired but shunned because she's such a natural at being an idol. She feels awkward and clumsy, unaware of her own power, like she could destroy everything if she so much as moves a finger wrong.
Airi is trapped in a labyrinthine cavern of crystals that surround her on all sides, reflecting every side of her. She's confused about her identity. Is she really Airi, an idol, or just Happy Lovely Everyday? Is she cut out for this? She's reaching upward as she tries to hold on to her dreams but she's too small, she doesn't fit the image of an idol, she'll never reach the level of people like Shizuku.
And Haruka is immobilized, wrapped up in branches of guilt. She's high up and attracting the attention of every eye but she can't move, just as she physically froze up whenever she stepped on stage after she hurt Mai. Her expression and her surroundings are bleak, a sad blue, because she's lost her faith as an idol. But then Minori shows up with her adorable determination and effervescent passion and love with a huge key for her heart and everything turns bright and she can smile beautifully again (OGD the expressions they give each other THEY'RE SO GAY) (ALSO it's really cute that Haruka sings "kitto kanau kara..." and then Minori repeats it, like a reassurance)
And (OH. MY. GOSH.) after Minori saves everyone (the scene with her and Airi is so funny because it's so them) you'd think it would be all fine and dandy right? But the conflicted expression she gives after???? ALDSHFALSHF I could feel her pain. acutely. Because she's thinking did she do well? Is she an idol yet? Then why is she still so plain? Why is she so far behind? The way she clutches her shirT SOBBING. But she's still smiling because it's fine, it's okay, she just has to work harder, she hasn't given up, right? And then the steps crumble from under her and she falls...
Haruka reaches out for her and comes up short. But it's not over yet, because the girls jump in after her, Airi leading the charge. She freed them, she lifted them up, she clung to her faith in them, so of course they'd do the same for her. And then they all grab hands, and Minori's tiny wings sprout into the most beautiful, fullest, strongest pair of wings (TENSHI NO KUROOBAAAAA guys I love angel's clover so much LFHALFH) and she lifts all of them into the sky.
It's juST— IT'S INCREDIBLE. IT'S ART. IT so poignantly relays the MMJ narrative in such a pretty package. AND THE END where MMJ is giving hope to Minori's younger self. WHAT THE HLAJSD /pos I CAN'T BREATHE. Anyway this is to tell you that you're not alone and it's never too late to try again and there's always always hope. I love you!! STAN MMJ
WAIT OMG I forgot it was Mermay!!!!! I'm gonna share the siren/selkie/sailor Sigskk (accidental alliteration) au I made up purely so I could describe the ocean in loving, overabundant detail (and also because I'm reading To Kill a Kingdom)
𓆞༄・゚𓆝࿐ ࿔*: 𓆟
Sigma's casino floats on the blue, but instead of the sky, it's the sea. A cruise that feels like a home, and every customer is family. (He is not a pirate, even though he has a cutlass and a flintlock pistol and a freaking hook.) Longing to feel the liquid pull of the ocean against his skin, Sigma steps down into a jolly-boat. There, he is assailed and nearly butchered by a siren defending his territory, a creature of water with fiery hair, until he's pulled back aboard.
Later, Sigma's ship is attacked by real pirates. After defeating them, Sigma and his crew scour their ship and find, imprisoned, a man with tousled cacao hair, clothed only in bandages (along with... Gogol??? How did you get here????) He's a regular damsel in distress with a mysterious eyepatch over one of his eyes, and definitely not a selkie and ex-partner of that siren.
Below: A snippet of Sigchuu's meeting that I wrote in a fit of passion.
The sea glitters, waves crashing gently against the hull of his ship, an ambient noise that could lull one to sleep. It’s deliciously blue, an ombré that melts into a softer azure, highlighted by the shimmering, radiating dot of the white sun.
Sigma dives in.
The salty water should burn his eyes, but Sigma hardly feels it. It’s even more beautiful down under, a dazzling world of aquamarine — beams of light slanting over his head, his hair weightless and flowing around him. Fish in primary colors dash past his eyes and bubbles float up from his mouth. Seaweed sways in a breezy dance. Atop the squishy sand, Sigma's hands caress vibrant seashells like so many gems.
And then his back is crushed against them.
Sigma can’t see — his hair whips in front of his face and sticks to his eyes. The air is pushed out of his lungs and he inhales water. Something is beating his head into the smooth, colorful sea pebbles below, and there’s blood clogging the water and his vision.
He swears and gasps and chokes, heartbeat all he can hear against the throbbing of the waves in his ears. I'm going to die I'm going to die my casino my patrons my ship I need to get back I can't breathe...
Sigma shoves against the snarling, squirming thing forcing him down. He curses his long hair with his limited thought space. He reaches blindly, catching on teeth and skin and hair and- and scales? But he’s got it — his flintlock. He wrestles it out of his pocket and fires.
There’s a growl of shock, and Sigma forces himself away from his assailant and up, praying that he’ll break the surface before everything goes black—
The sky. The sun. Sigma breathes as everything becomes bright again. He hacks up seawater and blood (concerning), and frantically rubs the ocean and his hair out of his eyes.
There’s someone with him.
Something? He can’t tell. All he sees is a face — a human face — submerged in the water with only the eyes breaking surface, eyes bluer than the sky, than the sea, than any gem tossed on Sigma’s poker tables when all other currency had been lost. A predator. Sienna locks surge over brown shoulders and swirl around their head like a planet’s rings. Most striking of all are their ears, fanned like fairy wings but nowhere near as delicate, frilled and bristling in aggression.
Sigma thinks this creature is beautiful, even as their face is twisted in animalistic rage.
The creature lunges. Claws drip with crimson, swirling patterns up the arm. They're sharp enough to hook Sigma's breath.
He's scrambling onto his boat before he can learn just how sharp they are, and his ever-diligent crew shouts and hoists him up immediately.
Sigma's eyes meet scorching blue, narrowing in rage. They're nothing like the ocean, he realizes. They're like fire.
Then he gasps and flinches back. A mirage... it must be. The flare of the sunlight must be fooling his eyes. Because, inexplicably, the ocean seems to whirl up to meet him, as though sentient.

curious about little woman and the dream with a fever of 38.5°C from your wip game!!
- @ixapixie
@ixapixie MY BELOVED IXA HELLO HOW ARE YOU I'M SO SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG but here ya go eeeeeeekkkkk
little woman is my modern college au where louisa gets scouted by the ada and they have to solve the case of the murders around campus. an attempt at a mystery and a lot of louisa character analysis (and projection)!! this isn't rlly a snippet but more of the blurb I wrote for it when I first had the idea, which is why it's written so... tell not show-y
“Louisa, why aren’t you a top student?” Lucy huffs as Louisa springs up in her seat. “You work way harder than that Edogawa guy. And you’re crazy smart, but you’re never cocky about it.” She stretches across the table and lies down on her arm. “You could take their places if you wanted to.”
“No! I could never do that!” Louisa defends herself with a furious wave of her hands. “That- That’s too much attention, and they’d probably try to kill me for challenging them…”
“Are you joking? Ed’s been trying to knock Edogawa down since we got here, and I think the dude’s actually into it.” Lucy wrinkles her nose. “Ergh, but I hope that bandaged weirdo wouldn’t try anything with you if he knew what you're really made of.”
I think they do know, Louisa thinks, stomach growing heavy. It's almost as if... I can feel their eyes on me.
(She is, of course, proven right when none other than Dazai Osamu himself approaches her and asks:
“Would you like to become a detective?”)
the dream with a fever of 38.5°C is a line from “flos” and also just… emukasa feels. it barely has a plot but here's a few scenes
It was one of those days. Emu's eyes traced the clouds on her ceiling mural. A blue sky. She would have to settle for a fake, as she couldn't will herself to leave the floor. She pitied the paper birds hung up by threads, with wings to fly but with nowhere to go.
Her hands vibrated with energy. It almost hurt. She needed to do something but couldn’t move her body, so she felt like screaming. Just as she opened her mouth to the promise of release, someone beat her to it.
Emu blinked. Outside her window, a familiar voice, enunciated and loud, called her name in an inflection that jumpstarted her heart.
"Emu, my dear Emu! Please emerge from your tower. My natural ability to draw eyes wherever I go is not helping me right now!" Tsukasa exclaimed from below.
+
The evening was broken by Tsukasa's ear-splitting scream. The echoing of his voice off the walls was ordinary; it was the paleness of his face that caught Emu's attention.
"WHAT is that!? Why does it have so many legs!" he yelled, balancing on one foot and pointing a shaky finger at a roly-poly on the patio. It was the size of Emu's thumb.
Emu dropped to her stomach to get a closer look. "Oooh, a pilly poly!" Flashing a grin at Tsukasa, she wiggled into a ready stance. "Have no fear! I got this." She flicked the pillbug into the grass, perhaps a bit too harshly.
Tsukasa sighed with his full chest, collapsing into his spot at Emu's side. "Emu, you saved me." He grinned in that way he did when someone he cared about did something incredible. As though their achievements were his, too. "My hero!"
Heat exploded in Emu's ribs, growing like elephant toothpaste to fill her from the tips of her toes to the top of her head. She felt like ripping her chest open.
I'd get rid of all the bugs for you forever. Just promise not to leave.
