This is an original 1884 chromolithograph of an example of Japanese encrusted, or incrusted, art work. This black lacquer panel depicts a graceful bird hovering over a fruit-laden basket. Note the detail of the fly on the pomegranate and the stag beetle on the corn.

This is an original 1884 chromolithograph of an example of Japanese encrusted, or incrusted, art work. This lacquer panel is a typical Japanese still life with a chrysanthemum in a vase and a fungus-type plant in a small square flowerpot.
