happy birthday to me
#at my age#my parents were married with a child and living in a massive fancy house#able to pay for full-time childcare#housekeeping#and gardening#my mum was very senior in an international organisation and about to go on to run a company#my dad was in a similar position#and was literally on the front of an industry publication as a recognised expert in his field#meanwhile i'm basically a grub at work#chronically alone#and failing to find somewhere to move to in the area i was born in because i just can't afford it#i'm so fucking tired and fed up#feel like i'm wasting/ruining my life#but i don't know how to make any real changes#so tired of people (whether that's family or complete strangers) telling me i'm missing out on everything that truly matters#on one hand it's frustrating that getting het married and having a family is seen as the only acceptable option#but also guys pls don't fucking remind me#it would be one thing if i were madly successful in some other part of my life so it could be a reasonable trade-off#but it's like#i'm just sorta sucking at everything#trundling along slowly and pointlessly#did i mention i fucking hate my birthday
