It has been a while
So this Tumblr account turned 14 years old last week, apparently.
The last time I posted here was just after Chrono Trigger Symphony Vol. 2 came out. Yikes, that was a while ago and I honestly didn’t really plan to disappear for over a decade.
It's crazy when I think how different things are nowadays and where I've been since my last post. I finally finished the full Chrono Trigger Symphony, and not long after I was given the opportunity to score the soundtrack for a certain Adventure-Line-Following video game that turned out to be a cult classic.
I also got to work on my dream project in the form of Lost in Random. Given a brief of "we want 30 minutes of music" and complete freedom in doing so, I ended up writing about four hours of gothic-horror, my own take on the 'Burton' sound.
I'm truly privileged to have been involved in the origins of Spitfire Audio - it has literally allowed me to pick and choose the projects I want to be involved in, a luxury that I know many other composers don't have.
People finding me more recently are probably more familiar with my side-hustle; a project with Gloom Darkheart where we write catchy little murder ditties. "An Unhealthy Obsession" has gone viral twice since I last posted here, with over half-a-billion plays on Tiktok this year alone in videos featuring so many fantastic creations from talented artists. The project has expanded from two murderous motifs to over 18 glorious blood-soaked-ballads now, collected under the Music to Murder to umbrella.
I've had ups and downs. Moved houses, found people, lost people, written hours of Orchestral arrangements, learnt so many skills, forgotten so many more. It's strange to look back and realise how much time has passed since I last wrote anything here, and how much of life has happened in between.
Anyway, if history's anything to go by, I could vanish off here again and be back with another update when this Tumblr turns 20. Or maybe I might use it to post the odd thought, rambling, achievement, or something in between. We'll see.
Oh, and yes - I'm still working away on Multivaders here and there.
Anyway. In the mean time, if you want to get stuck in to some of the things I've done this decade:
Listen to the Lost in Random soundtrack,
Find your next music to murder to,
Check out some of my arts & toys,
Have a poke through my photography,
Follow me on the socials.
