How does one create devotional writings?
Now, I don't know how much of this will be true to how other people do their devotional writings, but I'm more than happy to share the process for mine!
For one, I have a talent in writing. I've always been a bit of a wordsmith, in one way or another, and had been searching for some time for a way to transfer that into my witchery.
For two, Hades and Persephone have both been pushing me towards more reflective shadow work here lately- something that both takes a lot of energy and very little in a very paradoxical sort of way I couldn't hope to do justice explaining.
Because of these two things, I set about asking both Hades and Persephone if I could do some devotional writings for them. I've always found comfort in the written word, and write letters to them fairly frequently, so I felt like this would be a good next step for me.
Persephone was very on board, but She prefers to keep the devotional writings private- which I completely agree with. My work with Persephone is incredibly personal right now, and I want to keep it close to the chest for the time being.
Hades, however, wanted me to share the devotional writings- which is why you can find five of them on my blog.
Now, as to the process of writing the devotionals themselves- that isn't difficult, really.
I ask Hades/Persephone if there's any specific topic I should reflect on, then wait for their answer. Once I have a topic, I then meditate over it, before writing down everything I think seems important, and tying it to Hades/Persephone and Their role in my life, both before and after I truly knew of Them.
Hades in particular has been wanting me to focus on what once was and what will always be in my life- such as my death work, intentional or not, and my anthropological interests.
Persephone's writings, which I have not shared, have been more centered around family and the impact they have upon me and my practice.
Hopefully this helps! If not, feel free to ask clarifying questions :)
