sometimes i truly do believe it is impossible to separate storm witchcraft from death work a storm is such a powerful symbol of death and rebirth it is the great change we see in the tower card the thing that pushes us to accept what we cannot fix and find something we can its the harsh reminder that not everything has to be fine all the time

lightning and death go hand in hand in many ways

someone more educated could probably link this to kthonic zeus but sadly i am not that person so for now im just going to acknowledge that the modern symbolism is rather strong and something i quite enjoy exploring in my craft

Death Witch Altar Ideas

If a witch chooses to keep an altar as part of their practice, it is their choice what items and tools they display and/or use. These are just a few ideas I have taken from my personal altars. Feel free to use anything for your altar that feels right. These are just suggestions!

Tools Athame (Knife) - Can be used similarly to a wand if desired or to prepare offerings, incense, etc. Any safe metal is appropriate and a bone handle is a plus! Many use them for display or as protection talismans.

Wand - Can be used as an extension of your hand to channel energy, point, or draw sigils within a circle or as part of a spell. Metal, bone, wood, or crystal wands all work equally well. 

Candles - Either to use in spells, to create atmosphere, or to burn during meditation. Black, white, red, silver and gold candles work well and metal candleholders or candlesticks compliment death work.

Cauldron - Often used to burn offerings, spells, or incense. 

Offering Dish - Primarily used to place offerings on the altars. I prefer bowls so that liquid offerings can be given. I prefer to designate one vessel for food/drink and others for unrelated offerings.

Crystals - Can be used for spell work, to cleanse or protect an altar, or as decoration. Some excellent choices are onyx, obsidian, tourmaline, pyrite, clear quartz, and hematite.

Other Plants/Terrariums - I love using graveyard dirt and moss collected at cemeteries to make small terrariums for my altar to give me a task at my altar each day. Living plants can also be tended on an altar. 

Skulls, Bones, Mummies - This may be a given, but oddities like these are excellent representations of death (skulls, bones, mummies, wet specimens, mounted insects, etc.).

 Graveyard Dirt - I like to keep a small amount of graveyard dirt on my altar at all times. Ensure this is collected ethically and with respect.

Art - Visual representations help motivate a lot of my practice and keeping my altar beautiful aesthetically supports my craft. Keeping figurines, prints, paintings, etc. on or around your altar may be a source of inspiration.

Photographs - If your craft is centered around ancestor veneration, grief practices, or funerary rights, than it might be appropriate to keep photos of deceased relatives/friends/pets on your altar.

Patreon, Patrons, and What to Expect

Hey guys! As you know, I’ve been considering making a Patreon for a while now, and I’m happy to announce that it’s finally come to fruition!  I created this Patreon to have a platform where I feel more comfortable sharing personal information about my worship, as well as content from my own grimoire! I'm hoping that here I'll be able to more fairly offer my services in tiers to my followers as opposed to some of the pay-per-service options I provided in the past.  I don’t want anyone to feel obligated to pledge, but I will be offering most of my personal content on that platform. Trust me when I say that I’ll have a ton of content available for everyone! Not just patrons! Right now, there is only one tier (and I plan on keeping it that way for a long time). Devotional Poem to Hades

Slowly spinning

Dancing in the candlelight

Death dances with me

Dancing until the hours of dawn

The feeling of every moment gone by.

Death.

Every thought that dissipates.

The ground below me, full of rich history and the blood of the long fallen.

Death.

Tears that dry up and emotions that fade away.

Death.

Death is everywhere.

Pennies

Back in 2012 Canada stopped the production of pennies and removed them from circulation. And since then the pile of pennies has been steadily increasing, I keep finding them everywhere! So I decided to find a use for all these perfectly good coins, and witchcraft had me covered.

So here are some ways to use the dusty hoard of pennies under that couch cushion.

Other Names: Cent, Cent Coin

Can Be Found: See afformentioned couch and under furniture. Also, ask others to set aside any they might find around their house, politely of course.

Sign: N/A

Planet: N/A

Element: My personal correspondence is the element Earth because of the metals it's made of and because of the heavy associations with the dead and the underworld. I wasn't able to find a generally accepted universal answer.

Deities*: Hermes, Hades, Thanatos, Charon

Use For: Love, Luck, Wealth, Protection and Offerings to Spirits.

Spell Idea: Enchant a penny with your intention before tossing it in your local wishing fountain, giving your wish and your luck a little boost.

*A lot of deities accept coins as offerings or are otherwise directly associated with money, but these ones in particular are the ones that are relevant to me

So I spent some time at a local Cemetery earlier tonight and I did my usual Circle and offerings for the spirits of the cemetery and for Thanatos.

Then I reinforced my wards and made my first official offering to Hades. I told him I wanted to get more familiar with him and then possibly work with him if things should pan out that way.

After I was done I closed Mar Circle as usual and packed up to go home. As I was leaving I caught sight of a cat darting from the other side of the cemetery and lay down in the shadow of one of the gravestones. So me being me I of course have to stop and attempt to pet the kitty, and it's surprisingly worked out really well.

The cat was super friendly and came right up to me and started rubbing up against me and purring and just generally being super cute. So I spend some time petting it, and then straighten up to go home again. This little cutie follows me from the graveyard and while it was initially hesitant to leave the graveyard, it decided to follow me to the end of the block where it attempted to cross the street and follow me but the cars freaked it out too much and it decided to loop back around to another section of the cemetery.

Like 2 minutes after that I got this very vivid mental image a huge, really dark black stag with a kind of blue purple glow in my head and I haven't been able to get it out since.

So that's what the focus of tonight's meditation session will be.
