Todorokistarts to loosen up while he’s in high school but they’re always training sohard that it just makes him gain muscle mass. The food is still designed tohelp them grow and improve but it doesn’t have that stale taste of mineralslike the things his father made him eat after his mother was put away. Hefinally feels like he has a choice.

When hegraduates and moves out on his own he’s lost. Now it’s too much choice. Hedoesn’t really know what’s good or not for his body so he goes by what tastesgood and even that’s difficult when he’s still trying to learn how to cook. Atfirst he doesn’t eat enough and then well…

At first hethinks it’s just more muscle. That’s not technically a bad thing, but it kindof slows him down a bit. He gets used to it but he puts on more. He’s gettingused to anticipating it when he finally realizes how soft he is. “Thatwasn’t muscle after all.” He deadpans in the mirror staring at his squishytummy.

He’s nottoo bothered. He keeps going. A tabloid picks up on his little double chin butit’s a common thing for adults to develop and he’s otherwise well contained inhis uniform. It’s a secret softness until he gets into a fight with a villainwho wrecks his hero suit. The next morning the photos are out and the nextevening he gets an angry visit from his dad.

It’s atough evening and a rough night. Todoroki finds out what the mineral taste was.He gets pinched and pushed around and his apartment almost burns down twice.It’s a lot. When Endevor leaves Todoroki waits an hour and then throwseverything out. The supplements, the weird tea blend, the flavourless foods hecooked against his will. The next day Midoriya comes over and makes him hismom’s curry recipe.

Todorokiputs on 20 pounds out of spite. Then 10 more. And then his body sort of evensout? Tabloids call him the chunky hero, the ice cream and barbeque hero, and afew other things, but when that happens he just calls his old classmate overand they grill some fatty meat and eat ice cream right out of the tub together.
