Curated playlist highlighting Black musicians actively making rock music as an act of reclamation.  Rock is one of the many genres Black people pioneered but are often barred from, ridiculed, and belittled for listening to it. Without the contributions of Black musicians like Chuck Barry, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Little Richard and Tina Bell (to name the few pictured above) who laid the literal groundwork for this genre, rock wouldn’t be where it is today.
