As a reward for the Anghel voters, I’ve edited some of the anghel arts to give him his melanin back! (Tone vaguely based on his advent calendar art, the palette of the rest of his artwork, and compared to the skintones of the other birdboys in the same style)

There’s some discussion I’ve seen throughout the polls going “Is X really a chuuni I think they’re just kind of edgy and overdramatic.” I think this stems from the disparity between the current understanding of what a Chuuni character is (Claims to have dark powers or a grand persona and the like) and Hikaru Iujin’s original definition of chuunibyou (the more broader definition of “Cringe behavior commonly seen in 8th graders”)
I’ve accepted both interpretations of chuunibyou for this tournament as they’re both valid, but to display the distinction between the two I’ve divided some of our contestants up accordingly.
Upon talking to these characters for like 30 seconds, you would instantly go “Oh there is something wrong with this character. They’re playing some sort of character and they desperately want you to buy into their persona.” You can instantly tell they’re chuunibyou. You probably can’t separate them from it. They’re Freaks (affectionate)
You could probably hold a normal conversation with these characters, though you would feel a sense of “This guy holds themself on a pedestal. In three or four years they are going to look back and cringe at how they behaved Fourteen Years Old.” Thus “contracting” chuunibyou, it’s likely a phase and they can survive without a grandiose persona.
I added these characters as they exhibited enough chuuni symptoms for me to consider it a part of their character, and/or they were noted by creators to be a bit chuuni.

A gift from me to you~ A chart of what I consider important facets of a chuuni (Regardless of type). To the left is a filled out example for my OC Opheliaux!
Feel free to use this chart in your character propaganda for an idea of how or even build off of it for your own chuuni-ology chart. My personal explaination for what each stat means (you're free to interpret as you wish) + transparent versions In both black and white under the cut!
DRAMATICS: Do they use flowery language? Do they pose? Do they have self-imposed titles? How elaborate are the lies they tell about their persona? Basically, how "big" is their chuuni persona?
SILLINESS: Self explanatory. Some examples of Silly are a ridiculous alias, failing to make an impression on others, poses that are more dumb than cool... You know what silly is in your heart. Go wild!
CRINGE: Does their act remind you or other characters of their own chuuni phase? Are they pathetic? Do they have a written dark notebook of their own chuuni persona's lore/how they look/a manga they write about their chuuni persona? Are they in their mid-twenties and still a chuuni? You'll know cringe when you see it.
GAP MOE: How different are they when not in chuuni mode? Are they an adoring child to their parents? Do they have a sweet tooth despite insisting they love bitter tastes? It's endearing!
PERCIEVED SUPERIORITY: How high-and-mighty do they act about their persona? Do they call others mortals? Do they think they're mature? Do they act like you "Just won't get it?"
COMMITMENT TO THE ACT: How often do they break character/what makes them do so? Do they refuse to respond to their given name and insist on being referred to by their made-up chuuni name only?
Note that full marks on all stats isn't necessarily best, it's up to personal taste. I like my chuunis to break character once in a while so I can experience the gap moe and the silliness that ensues! Others may want a 24/7 Chuuni who is dead serious about their chuuni persona and the silliness is only through others' perceptions of them. Each chuuni is unique!
In preparation for semifinals & finals, I have gathered as many chuuni character songs as I could find on spotify (would have made this another blog page so I could put whatever songs I wished but that requires JS permissions) so we could have an adequate soundtrack
Feel free to recommend more chuuni themes BUT if you’re suggesting one of Jyushi’s songs you have to PROMISE me i will not die of “Average middle-aged Japanese person’s conception of rap” cringe. Trust me, as someone with an Average middle-aged Japanese mother I have endured too much of that to listen to one more.
