Introduction to ‘Youth work training course’.

DATE: 12TH AND 13TH OF NOVEMBER 2016

TIME: 9AM UNTIL 5PM EACH DAY.

Fancy getting a qualification in a weekend?

We are running an introduction to Youth Work course for anyone aged 16 and over. So if you help out at a voluntary club, childrens playgroups or project, a youth club, the Beavers or Scouts, or Rainbows and Brownies, any summer playschemes etc this may be of some help to you. It gives you the basic background information on games, planning, health & safety, club structures, basic physcology, teamwork, theory behind youth work as just a few things.

You will get at the end of the course you will get a certificate of attendance and if you want the official accreditation for your CV it a further £36.00.

News from us, tell your friends, pick something and come along, don’t be bored with nothing to do this year. Kick Start programme: We have a new course starting in March and we are taking sign up's from young people aged 16 to 18 years of age. Traineeships: We are offering an eight week traineeship for 16 to 25 year olds. They need to commit to an eight week programme of on the job training and one day of college type lessons (but not held at a college) learning about a career or job that they are interested in. New projects: We have a number of new community projects starting up in the next quarter which I can let people know about in the next meeting. Children and Young Peoples Partnership Somerset (CHYPPS): We will be hosting this project at our Glastonbury office over the next year. If there are any community or volunteering groups with the element of young people in their mix, then this project is there to help and support them, regardless of size.The contact details at the moment can be reached through our phone number 01458 836130 or email on [email protected], until the phones and email are sorted out. Diary of events: We are offering up an exciting year of volunteering opportunities for young volunteers aged 16 to 25. From helping on the finishing crew at the Bath Half marathon, stewarding at Home Farm festival and go-fers at the International Triathlon Ironman competition in the summer (plus a lot more that I cannot get on to the page). If people would like to come along to expand their CV's and increase their employability,or college or university status them get them to get in contact.

On the 13th of March we will be taking a wonderful crew to the Bath Half Marathon to help out in the running village. 

You may ask ‘what’s that’, well it’s helping to store runners belongings, manning the water points, cheering crews where we encourage the runners, finishing point where we take off the runners ‘chips’ on their shoes and then give out the goody bags. There are also road crews who prevent runners from getting hit by stray cars.

If you would like to come along you need to be 16 to 25 years of age and available all day on the 13th of March.

Help with transport will be provided.
