1x22 - Tuxedo Hill. We made it. The last episode of season 1.
I just love how he comes in, sits down and immediately folds himself into this small, friendly, non-threatening lump. And Eames lets him do the talking because she knows he is great with kids.
I would've loved to have seen him with the Eames clan children at a family party or something. But, then again, he'd probably spend his time at the kids table and no one would be able to draw him away from it. And Alex would just fondly shake her head and hand him a hotdog and let him be.
Will this be haunting the narrative? Who knows... we'll see.
The rent for her personal space must've been cheap with the way he is leaning into her. And the small glance he does up at her right after he leans in and starts pointing things out. He's checking to see if he is allowed to lean in that much. And she doesn't even move, she is totally alright with him crowding her.
Eames: We have no idea what you just said.
One look and the way Eames just states it. She doesn't trust the guy. At all. The whole scene, she doesn't even want to take her eyes off of him for a second. And Goren is just there, looking for mints essentially.
Goren: It's a tight fit. Eames: Fine for me.
Yeah, well, Eames isn't 6 foot 3 and built like a fridge. Maybe he should've lain off the veggies when he was younger? But as we all know she hides impressive power in her small frame. It's not about size but how you use it. (...yes, I know what I said. Dirty minds...)
I love this. He just made that pilot question a few things about himself. And all that with barely moving. Robert Goren, making men question things about themselves since forever probably.
The vibe here. This feels like Eames is doing a Goren move. The calm, unmoving lean in the back. Just observing. Being a presence. Good to see they swap their roles sometimes.
Eames giving the dog the once over before looking at her partner like she's hoping all this will hopefully lead to something quickly and he isn't just cuddling the dog and being ridiculous.
Goren: We're throwing them an engagement party.
Eames knows he has a plan. And Carver also realizes this is going to involve some of their usual tomfoolery that gets people to confess.
Goren: What fanatics do to us with guns and bombs you tried to do with an accounting trick. Don't you think for a minute that you deserve anything better than they do.
Oh-ho, Goren is pissed. This is his anger shining through. He doesn't make a difference between white-collar crime and violent murder. It's all crime to him and he hates when people think they are in any way better than others just because they "only" cheated people out of their money.
This kind of anger is what happens when you grow up poor. A disgust for people who think they're better just because they have more money. And knowing about Goren and his situation, I can't imagine they had a lot of disposable income when he was young.
The last shot of the season is them looking at each other and him starting to grin.
And this is it, folks. Season 1 is done. I'll do a brief interlude (short video of my favorite overall moments) and then we're off to season two. And all new crimes and wacky characters. And characters we love to hate. (*cough* Bitch-ole *cough* *sips water* Sorry, had something in my throat.)
