“With the garage pretty much outta commission, Holly and Paw-Paw are keepin’ me busy.” It was good to see the head hunter again, and looking him over, it didn’t seem that Dave wasn’t any worse for wear from the last they spoke. When had been the last they spoke? “Folk down in Meldacio keepin’ ya on your toes, Dave?”

“I reckon that’s one way o’ putting it.” Keeping him on his toes ... more like refereeing a fight every other night an’ tryin’ to keep the peace in an outpost that was already far beyond being crowded.

A look around Lestallum’s packed streets and he could see the same was true for the city, an’ most probably every other outpost; so many people crammed into small inhabitable areas. But that was the reality o’ their lives now.

“Y’gotta be bored without the garage t’tinker around in; reckon my hunters don’t know what t’be doin’ with themselves now yain’t got so many car-part requests.” It was a jibe, but one he meant in good jest - Cindy’s car-part requests had helped train more hunters than he could count.

Knuckles rap on the nearest item to make a noise in order to catch the mechanic’s attention, and though it sure takes minutes for the blonde to finish whatever it is she’s fixing up, Talcott patiently waits anyway. 

“I was told you’re in need of some parts?” he calls out when Cindy finally pokes her head out from behind the hood of the car she’d propped up. “Do make a list and I can gather those up for you tonight.”

Well, he hadn’t expected to to actually do it. Suffice to say, there was red all across his freckled cheeks with no subtle way to hide it except attempting to glance off. “O-of course, I didn’t squirm! I’m a strong man!” the blond tried to boast, puffing out his chest, “I ain’t no little boy anymore!”

However, Prompto’s act of confidence dropped quickly as he made himself glance at Cindy. With a shy smile, he said, “But thank you for the help, Cin. I appreciate it. Always hard to get the wounds on my face by myself without a mirror.”

So this was Hammerhead. The visit after the fall of Insomnia had been a fleeting one and Sarah had stayed in the safety of the truck that horrible morning when the world had fallen down.

Holding the piece of paper in her hand, she looked around to gather her bearings. Cid was in Caem with the marshal, working on the prince’s boat and it was too dangerous for Cor or the old mechanic to travel back for supplies; the empire would know who they were.

The same for Kaleb; they knew he was Dave’s right-hand man. 

So that meant she was here with a couple of mid-rank hunters who had removed their tags and donned civilian clothes. It made sense; she had never met any of the imperials and had no dogtags to give away her identification. No matter how little Kaleb liked the idea.

Crossing the forecourt, past the gas-pumps and to the garage’s open door. A cursory knock on the sheet of metal against the wall.

“Anyone here? I’m looking for Cindy Aurum?”
