9 and 11 for the wip ask game!

9. What is your favourite dialogue you've written so far?

I hate dialogue so this is tough but probably this scene with Rai and Camila (it involves telepathy but I guess it still counts?):

‘Rai.’ She was calling to him. Rai blinked. His thoughts were thick and slow like treacle. ‘Rai. You know where I am.’ He did know. She’d done something. She’d… She was in his head. ‘See, I knew you’d figure it out.’ A gasping panic settled upon him and he scrambled to a sitting position. Rai reached for his magic but it pulled back like it was stuck to something. ‘What did you do?’ Rai cried, pressing his hands hard against his chest to calm his hammering heart. ‘What did you do to me?!’ ‘Shh, calm down. You agreed to this, remember?’ Camila snapped. Rai could only sit there gasping for air, his mind racing. ‘Now I’ll get us out of here.’ The magic—it wasn’t Rai’s magic; it was strange and unsettling—crackled in the air around him. A burning pain lanced through his veins and he cried out, his muscles tensing.

11. What scene are you most hyped for this chapter/fic?

This chapter is probably the scene I'm about to write where Rai discovers the truth about Camila and realises how much danger he's in but also has to hide from her how much he knows.

Overall I'm most excited to write one of the final scenes where they reach the bottom of the God Corpse and Rai confronts Camila and a bunch of other stuff kicks off.

All of them except for Mizona unless I paid her, (of course I could use the fact that I know where the book is, but I’d be kinda scared that she’d kill me to be honest.)

Bonus answer: 

Anju would be doubled over, clutching her waist, tears in her eyes as her laughs, gasping out, “you-you” before bursting out laughing again, “You based me off of WHAT?!” she’d gasp out collapsing to the ground, tears now running down her face as she grins gleefully at my embarrassment.

☄️ Comet - Who is your most self destructive character? Why are they like that?

Hello! Thanks for the ask <3

I think the most self destructive character is probably Lux. He saw his parents die when he was a child and never got any help for it. His life after that wasn't great either because his adoptive family was pretty neglectful to him so he hasn't really recieved much love or affection since he was a child. Also he was forced to take a magical oath where if his adoptive brother Akkie ever dies, Lux will die instead. This causes him to be pretty reckless as he wants his death to be on his own terms.

Due to all this he's pretty self destructive. He has issues with substance abuse and is very self sabotaging in general. He's not used to feeling happy so when something goes right for him he tends to pull away from it for the more familiar negative feelings he usually has. He does eventually get help and improves throughout the story but at the start he's definitely struggling a lot.

An ask for you to free-ramble about Mizona? :)

Oh my goodness 😆 you are too good to me I swear.

For being a bitter and angry adult Mizona was the sweetest kid. She used to buy extra sandwiches at the Muscheron market to share with the local sirens she knew and would sit on the rocks with them as they ate with her. She had (and still has) very strong feelings about trees and believes they should be respected and looked after with the care of a king or queen. She used to use her magic to try and help her mamm with chores (she tended to make more of a mess than clean up, but she had spirit). She had the habit of spinning around in circles, this was fine when she was outside but having a mini tornado in the house lead to more mess than Mizona trying to clean up with magic.

Happy early STS! :D (answer when you feel like it!) I was listening to the song "Walk Through The Fire" by Zayde Wolf and Ruelle and it made me think of Faye and Fate! Which characters in your wip does it connect to most and how?

Cilly!! thank you for the ask, this is amazing! i used to listen to Walk Through the Fire when i was writing early drafts of FaF, and it’s so cool that you listened to it and thought of my wip. the song really makes me think of Aralion, of course, since her magic is fire and she’s heavily represented by it. it also makes me think of one of the main villains, who’s incredibly similar to Ara and similarly has a heavy connection to fire! 

also- throughout the books, there are a lot of events that will have fire involved in them. Ara discovers her magic through accidental arson, which is both a negative and positive thing (the beginning of her fun adventure, the beginning of the not so fun adventure). at least one character will die because of fire, and the villain i mentioned had an accident with fire that was shaping to them. 

a final note: did you know that fire can symbolize restarting in literature? this song can be used as heavy symbolism for the books- is there a “way out” of the time resets? Ara keeps resetting the world, keeps starting those fires, because she has to keep going past the smoke until she can find that reality where things go right…

Happy Storyteller Saturday! :) I love your WIP Faye and Fate. If I can ask, how many world resets has Ara done? How many does she remember? (shhh, I know it's Friday. I don't want to be late tomorrow knowing I'm going to crash after work tonight, lmao)

happy sts Cilly! thank you for the ask- since you asked a day early, i’ll answer a day early, lmao

Ara has done enough world resets that it’s probably impossible to keep track of their differences. i’d estimate around 150 in total, which is such a huge number when you think about it (that’s anywhere from 50-300 years worth of resets). 

in each timeline, she only remembers small snippets of previous ones, and it’s usually gut feelings or incredibly small details. eventually, she remembers everything, but that’s only after a certain trigger. sometimes, the trigger happens a few months into the reset, and sometimes it can take years. after though, her memories come back, and she can fully recall all of the worlds- which is a very bad thing. there’s a reason she reset each timeline, and remembering those reasons is not a fun experience!
