An ask for you to free-ramble about Mizona? :)

Oh my goodness 😆 you are too good to me I swear.

For being a bitter and angry adult Mizona was the sweetest kid. She used to buy extra sandwiches at the Muscheron market to share with the local sirens she knew and would sit on the rocks with them as they ate with her. She had (and still has) very strong feelings about trees and believes they should be respected and looked after with the care of a king or queen. She used to use her magic to try and help her mamm with chores (she tended to make more of a mess than clean up, but she had spirit). She had the habit of spinning around in circles, this was fine when she was outside but having a mini tornado in the house lead to more mess than Mizona trying to clean up with magic.

Mizona is an air witch but she’s always wanted to be able to control water. When she was younger she and her grandmaam(water witch) would walk into the ocean. The sea splitting for them, then encircling them. Mizona would spin round and round. Creating a mini tornado around her, which would spin the water, and she’d pretend she was a water witch. Just like her Maam and Grandmaam.

Mizona has lived in bodies that are afab, amab and intersex, and has married people who were usually the opposite gender of the body she had at the time. Because of this she doesn’t really know where to put herself in terms of sexuality or gender, so she just ignores the whole thing.

In the Victorian era, Mizona had a nipple ring. She misses it.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What would your OC be like from a "bad timeline"? Are they already in the bad timeline :P How would they feel about their alternative self?

Mizona is in her bad timeline, her family died, her sisters trapped in nature, she lost her families magic book, her and her sister are the only full blooded witches left and she committed a family taboo.

If she met her alternate self from the good timeline, I think she’s be curious about them, she’d want to know how her magic could have developed (N’seil witches each have a different way they express themselves with magic, the way it presents depends on their personality and emotional state. Mizona got compressed air that she could expand to make things (and people) explode, this happened because she was self destructive, hot headed and had an explosive personality)

If what makes her that way didn’t happen then she would be a completely different person and would express herself differently. 

She’d feel happy for her other self, even if she would be envious, she’d hope them the best.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What was your wip's cast like when they were younger? Are they embarrassed about who they used to be? How have they grown?

Ooh, nice question.

Mizona: Super friendly, loved with all of her heart, an adventurer, curious about the world, a little reckless, made friends with everyone, full of smiles, wore her heart on her sleeve.

Today she’s closed up, bitter, resentful, angry, doesn’t trust easily, keeps her heart close to her surrounded by barbed wire.

She misses who she used to be, she looks back at her younger self with a smile, wanting to go back to that time, and that thought only makes her more resentful.

Anju: Desperate for affection, angry at Rhei, blames Rhei for their mother treating them the way she did, depressed, wondering what she did wrong.

Today she’s loud, smiley (but fake), makes jokes and puns to lighten the mood, pretends to be okay until she can’t.

She doesn’t like how she treated Rhei and wishes she treated her better.

Alice: Curious, gives gifts to people until she’s run out, tries to figure out that people like, a sweetheart, teams up with Anju against Rhei.

Today she understands people enough to know how to make them like her, a people pleaser, has lost herself, follows Anju, if you asked her what her hobbies were she wouldn’t be able to answer you without wondering if she likes that because of others or because she truly enjoys it.

Like Anju she regrets how they treated Rhei

Courtney: Scared, quiet, never left her room, protective towards her little sister, self sacrificing, talks politely, remains calm, straight back, chin up at the table, silent, does not set anyone off.

Today she’s stronger than she used to be, she’s no longer scared of those who scared her before, she’s still very protective towards Hana, What she experienced taught her a skill set to be ‘perfect’. Its not a good thing, she’s constantly stressed and burning herself out.

She doesn’t like what she had to go through but she’s proud of herself for surviving.

Happy STS! How does your MC celebrate their birthday, if at all? What do they think about birthday celebrations? (@sybil-writes)

I didn’t mention what they thought of it though. Mizona loved birthdays when she was younger.

They’d start the day making potions and charms to take with them when they went out to the muscheron Market to meet up with the rest of her family. They’d use the potions and charms they’d made to buy food and drinks from the Mushroom Faries little café in the market.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Are there any habits that your characters have picked up from those around them? Do they know about it, or is it something they do subconsciously?

One of my secondary characters, Julie, has the habit of saying “You’re a [insert last thing someone said]” (Example: “...really like corn cob” “You’re a corn cob”)

My characters will slowing but surely start saying it subconsciously until its a habit they all have.

Mizona picks up Anjus habit of making puns and references at random moments, (I don’t know if this one counts) and she knows about it and knows that it makes Anju happy when she does it. She tends to look around for Anju every time she does it to see her smile.

Sometime I’ll be looking through my scraped chapters from a few years ago and I’ll find gems of Mizona being a chaotic little murder machine she’s destined to be like this:

Whilst fighting amidst the yelling, clangs of metal and gun shots, Mizona felt a hot pain on her outer thigh. She had been shot. If she was just one or two centimetres to the right, it would have missed her. her leg was warm and damp. The back of her neck feeling on fire, and her jaw clenched as she turns scanning the room, with an easy grin when her eyes landed on a man with the barrel of his gun still pointing at her. Her eyes bulging and grin wide, she let her sword go screeching, "You piece of human scum," and lifted her right hand up to the left side of her face and with a quick swish of her hand the man's body swelled up like a balloon and popped, his insides sprawled out and blood splattered over the floor. The people around looked like they had just lost all of the food in their stomachs but Mizonas' eyes sparkled like a Childs would when walking downstairs on Christmas morning to find their presents.
