Out this week: Pillow Talk (Harper Alley, $18.99):
OK, so I was in an airport yesterday and the coffee shop where I was waiting for my flight had a TV on ESPN, and it was showing a professional pillow fight. Which is apparently a real thing. I mean, why not, right? Anyway, this new graphic novel by Stephanie Cooke and Mel Valentine Vargas is about Grace Mendes, a.k.a. “Cinderhella” (that’s awesome), a college freshman who gets recruited into the world of competitive pillow fighting.
See what other comics and graphic novels will occupy store shelves this week.
how i wish cinderhella franchise actually existed, they would def be my fave movies!
Cinderhella Headcanons
Cinderhella's name is a reference to the actual character Cinderella combined with the actual word "hell" due to the abuse she and her older brother had to deal with from their parents.
Cinderhella's real name, "Agnes", is a female name that means "pure" or "holy", which did define Cinderhella until she finally had enough and ended up dying in the house fire after killing both of her parents.
The reason she had killed her parents was because after her grandfather had passed away, he had given his inheritance to her and her brother, but her parents threatened to kill both of the children if he did not give them the inheritance instead, which led to her and her brother becoming their servants.
When she turned twenty-three, she had finally snapped and killed both of her parents. Her brother ended up running away after not wanting to go down the same path that Cinderhella decided on and she in turn burned down the house with herself in it to make it as though it was not her brother's fault in anyway.
Cinderhella was the one who introduced literature to Hell, which earned her the title of "The Literature Demon" and her Overlord status.
She was the one who taught herself and her brother the way of the sword.
Cinderhella, when she was alive, had a sword of her own that was passed down to her by her grandfather. She ended up replacing it with a sword-like holy weapon that she had found after experiencing her first annual extermination when she ended up in Hell.
Cinderhella became an author in Hell by writing and publishing fairytale-style books that seem innocent on the surface but do get darker as the story goes on.
She sometimes hosts tea parties with some of the Overlords and/or some Sinner Demons whose company she does enjoy.
She's surprisingly good at rapping.
Cinderhella Design
When she was still human, she had waist-length blonde hair, fair skin, and brown eyes.
The outfit she wore before she died consisted of an orange A-line gown with a beaded one shoulder, a pair of orange shoes with white beads all over them, a pair of orange opera gloves, an orange choker necklace, and a silver tiara.
In her Sinner Demon form, Cinderhella retains her human self's body shape. She is roughly the size of Charlie and has knee-length purple hair, dark orange skin with black burn-like marks all over her body, and azure blue eyes with purple rings around them.
Her normal outfit consists of a white Victorian blouse, a pair of blue skinny jeans, a black belt with a silver buckle on it, a white ascot with a purple amethyst centered on it, a pair of purple knee-length boots with white heels and laces, a pair of black lace gloves, a pair of silver and blue sapphire hanging earrings, and a pair of black and white sunglasses.
