Incredibly elegant

Cottagecore in the way that only people with loads of money can pull off
Flowers and vines everywhere
When not dressed formally, the fits are a bit indie
Lots of glitter and shine (Cinderella’s gown was magical)

Okay I just watched Cinderella (2015) and we can agree that Princess Chelina was totally checking Ella out, right?
I've been making a lot of comments about the 2021 Met Gala. However, one of the biggest stars whose been a Met Gala staple for years was missing on September 13th. Of course, I'm talking about Zendaya. In honor of my favorite Met attendee, I wanted to look back at all of Zendaya's previous looks
Met Gala 2015 wearing FAUSTO PUGLISI
I think we all need to thank Fausto Puglisi for bringing Zendaya to her first Met. I'll be honest and say that I think this is my favorite of her Met looks. I think she looks absolutely beautiful. I really love the hairstyle and headband thingy. The theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. I think she did a great job of dressing to the theme. She used the sun motif as well as the color red to represent the theme. The whole thing just really works and I think about this outfit at least once a week
Met Gala 2016 wearing MICHAEL KORS
I'll be honest. I forgot about this look. I feel like while she looks great it's the least interesting of her outfits. This years theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Michael Kors said the idea was that she should look like a very glamorous android. I do love the dress, I am a big fan of when the sleeves don't match (wish I could explain that better). I think the dress is beautiful but wish there was a little more going on with the outfit since it is the Met.
Met Gala 2017 wearing DOLCE & GABBANA
This is the other outfit that is in the running for my favorite Zendaya Met Gala look. Zendaya looks absolutely phenomenal. I think the Afro looks beautiful and the dress is simply stunning. The print looks like something that could be hung in a gallery. The colors are bold but work together to create a stunning ball gown.
The theme of the night was Commes des Garçons which is supposed to be avant-gard. I don’t think this look necessarily hit the nail on the head in the wing but she looks so wonderful and the look is so different than anything I’ve seen before that I’m willing to look the other way. I mean come on there are PARROTS on her dress.
Met Gala 2018 wearing VERSACE
I don’t even know where to begin with this look. the hair the jewelry, the dress are all stunning. This years theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. I’d argue that this was the best theme within the last few years. There were a lot of just dreamy dresses that made it pretty easy to be on theme. However, Zendaya did not take the easy way out. She dressed as Joan of Arc in a chain metal dress. I think this dress is really beautiful. It manages to look structured but still elegant and almost airy even though it’s made of metal. I think the cutouts were really nicely done and Zendaya looks like a bad ass warrior. i also think the red bob looks really well with this look and is a great pop of color without being too over the top. I think this is Zendaya’s best on theme look. Just such a strong look.
Met Gala 2019 wearing TOMMY HILFIGER
Now don't come at me, but this is my least favorite of Zendaya's Met looks. I really loved the symbolism. I believe she had left the Disney Channel by this point and this was literally her transforming from teen Disney girl to who she's become now. The youngest Emmy winner for best actress in a drama series.
That being said, I don't think this was well executed. I just didn't find the dress to be pretty. I've seen Zendaya come out and say they needed another week to finish the dress. I studied engineering in college so I really appreciate the way the dress grew and glowed. However, I thought the shape was a little weird. Also, it felt like it had been done before and done better. For the Met Gala 2016, Claire Danes wore a Zac Posen cinderella-inspired dress. While it didn't mov e like Zendaya, I liked the shape and the way it glowed much better than this option.
I think I speak for everyone in praying that Zendaya will return next May to the Met Gala. Fingers crossed.
