my psuedo paradox au is exactly what the name implies; an au set in a timeline where it SEEMS a time paradox is occurring, but in reality it isn't. from the veryyy distant future, teeper travels back to a time before smilk was even smilk, with the intention of keeping it that way. this extends to the other beasts (or virtues, since they havent corrupted) of course, but her main priority is making sure the fount of knowledge doesn't go down the same path that inevitably ruined the future she came from

but in cases like these there's only so much you can do. you can turn back the dial as many times as you want, but if the cookie you're trying to save was predestined to become what he eventually did, no amount of stalling or diverting that progression would be able to stop it. it would only slightly alter the outcome

pretty quickly, teeper comes to this realization on her own, and... well, you can probably guess what she'd do after deeming a timeline unsalvagable...

i see people saying that wc has run so long and has so many books that it's started to feel repetitive and exhausting which. yeah absolutely. but that's partially just bc the writers/editors seem to have no idea how to write an arc without some giant overarching threat and a dramatic battle.

i feel like if we just focused more on interpersonal struggles and also natural disasters or mass extinction events it'd be soooo so much interesting. the new books seem to be leaning more into this but i need MOREEE. gimme an arc that's about a background character dealing with the insane trauma of having lived through the past three arcs i beg
