TOP 10 - Best trailers of 2013

It's that time time of the year again when all do their TOP 10 favourite/worst films of the year. There's has been some pretty great films this year, along with other dissapointments for sure (I'm looking straight towards you Man of Steel). But the main reason we tend to check out those films, films that are on our top 10 list is because the marketing campaign was so damn good. 

So here are my picks for the best trailers of this year.

10 - THE CANYONS (Paul Schrader)

OK. This one is a controversial for sure. Can this film be described as somehow "good"? Can a real pornstar act in a mainstream film? Can Lyndsay Lohan quit drugs, I mean get back acting? Fucking no. But what can be said good or great about this pretentious piece of shit is the trailer. 

How do you make a trailer which can engaged the audience which such a shitty film like this? Check out for yourself.

9 - LA VIE D'ADÈLE (Abdellatif Kechiche) [US trailer]

In contrast with THE CANYONS, here we got a good trailer for a fantastic film. The following trailer captures different themes that are throughout this 3 hours romance film. Love, sex, betrayal, fear.

8 - THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (Ben Stiller) [Trailer 1]

I haven't seen this film yet so I can't say if it is great, horrible or excellent but what I can say is that from just seeing this trailer I really wanna see it.

7 - AMERICAN HUSTLE (David O. Russell) [Trailer 1]

Yet another film I'm dying to see, not only because of the director and the amazing cast but also because of the brilliant editing in the first trailer and the outstanding choice of Led Zeppelin's 'Good times, bad times'.

6 - BIG BAD WOLVES (Aharon Keshales & Navot Papusahdo)

Here it is a film that probably no one has ever heard of, or maybe they have since Mr. Tarantino ranked it as "the best film of 2013" and that's saying something. Leaving aside that, this is a very strange, poetic and dark trailer which leaves us nothing but wanting more.

5 - HER (Spike Jonze) [Trailer 2]

This sweet, heartfelt sci-fi romance drama about a guy who starts a relationship with an operative system [Do not insert Siri gag in here] is an incredible plot for a film. What is even more incredible is the number of questions un-answered that the trailer show us, plus an amazing score by Arcade Fire.

4 - GRAVITY (Alfonso Cuarón) [Trailer 1]

Gravity may not have had the greatest script ever but it did have an excellent direction and a solid performance by Sandra Bullock. The following trailer does not show us the entire film in 2 and a half minutes but instead it teases the fuck out of the audience with a lot of tension.

3 - DON JON (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) 

This amazingly well edited trailer by the famous Mark Wollen's company show us a very detail look up to the themes of Don Jon's life. Body, pad, ride, family, church, boys, girls and... what was the last one? Check it out for yourself.

2 - THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (Martin Scorsese) [Trailer 2]

Martin Scorsese directing. Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role. The screenplay written by the guy who does Boardwalk Empire.

1 -  ONLY GOD FORGIVES (Nicolas Winding Refn) [Trailer 1]

That's it. No other trailer this year could capture more perfectly the look, sound and depth of a film like the Only God Forgives one. It has few lines that doesn't say anything about the plot but an extroardinary hypnotic feeling towards the whole picture. See the masterful edit down below.

Aspettando Walter Mitty

"Walter Mitty è un moderno sognatore, un comune editor fotografico di un magazine che compie regolarmente dei viaggi mentali lontano dalla sua noiosa esistenza, entrando in un mondo di fantasie caratterizzate da grande eroismo, appassionate relazioni amorose e costanti trionfi contro il pericolo. Ma quando Mitty e la sua collega, della quale è segretamente innamorato (Kristen Wiig), rischiano di perdere il lavoro, Walter è costretto a compiere l’inimmaginabile:  passare veramente all’azione – partendo per un viaggio intorno al mondo più straordinario di quanto avrebbe potuto mai sognare". 

I sogni segreti di Walter Mitty è uno dei film previsti per il prossimo week end al cinema. Una commedia agrodolce che attendo da tempo, perché amo il suo regista ed interprete, Ben Stiller. 

Oggi vi mostro una simpatica featurette dal set e vi consiglio caldamente di prenderlo in considerazione per un bel pomeriggio in sala!

Week end al cinema: Lo Hobbit capeggia le offerte cinematografiche della settimana

Da questa settimana e spero per moltissime altre ancora, inauguriamo una nuova 'rubrica', quella dei Film del Weekend.

Ogni giovedì proverò a raccontarvi quali pellicole sono pronte ad approdare in sala, corredate naturalmente di trailer italiano e quali di queste penso di andare a vedere. Soprattutto, non fingerò di averle viste tutte in anteprima (credetemi, non è una cosa così scontata).

Questo 12 Dicembre l'offerta cinematografica vede un grande blockbuster come lo Hobbit, tornare in sala per il suo secondo capitolo, affiancata dalla bella commedia Moliere in bicicletta, della quale vi avevo già parlato qui , da una pellicola tipicamente natalizia, dal nuovo Pieraccioni, da un drammatico film spagnolo e da una produzione italoinglese molto particolare. Vediamo

Il segreto di Babbo Natale, di Leon Joosen e Aaron Seelman. Pellicola d'animazione che ci porta nell'incantato mondo degli elfi di Santa Claus. Il nostro protagonista è Bernard, uno dei migliori ingengeri della Santech, azienda che produce marchingegni in grado di aiutare Babbo Natale nel suo lavoro, e che dovrà proteggerlo dall'odio del suo nemico giurato, Nevill Baddinghton. In sala per Moviemax.

Lo Hobbit - La desolazione di Smaug, di Peter Jackson, con Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage. Bilbo Baggins e i nani sono ancora in viaggio per ordine di Gandalf. Questa volta andando verso la Montagna solitaria incontreranno nuovi pericoli come Beorn il cambia pelle e gli Elfi della foresta. Tutto questo fino ad arrivare alla minaccia più grande: il temibilie Drago Smaug.

Peter Jackson si prende alcune licenze poetiche inserendo il personaggio non presente nei libri dell'elfa Tauriel, motivo sufficiente per farmi storcere il naso, già non avendo amato particolarmente il primo capitolo. Sono legata al libro però e quindi gli concederò una seconda possibilità. In sala per Warner Bros.

Molière in bicicletta di Philippe Le Guay con Fabrice Luchini, Maya Sansa, Lambert Wilson. L'attore misantropo Serge viene contattato dal collega e amico Gauthier che vorrebbe convincerlo a tornare in teatro per portare in scena Il misantropo di Moliere. Provando insieme finzione e realtà si fondono e i due amici vengono messi alla prova anche dalla conoscenza di una donna... Ve lo consiglio caldamente, perché negli ultimi tempi come fanno le commedie i francesi...In sala per Teodora Film.

Qui e là di Antonio Mendèz Esparza con Pedro de los Santos,  Teresa Ramírez Aguirre, Lorena Guadalupe Pantaleón Vázquez. Pedro torna a casa a Guerrero, in Messico, dopo anni di lavoro negli Stati Uniti. Le sue figlie e sua moglie lo aspettano e lo accolgono con affetto, così come la gente del posto. Pedro dovrà riabituarsi alla vita quotidiana, tra incertezze e il rimpianto per opportunità lontane. In sala per Cineclub internazionale Distribuzione.

Still life di Uberto Pasolini con Joanne Froggatt, Karen Drury, Neil D’Souza. Curiosa commedia agrodolce italiana che ci racconta le vicende di John May, impiegato comunale incaricato di trovare i parenti prossimi delle persone scomparse. Il suo ultimo caso lo porterà a compiere un insolito viaggio. In sala per Bim Distribuzione.

Un fantastico via vai di Leonardo Pieraccioni con Leonardo Pieraccioni, Chiara Mastalli, Massimo Ceccherini, Serena Autieri, Giorgio Panariello. Pieraccioni torna in sala con una commedia per la quale convoca gli amici di sempre Panariello e Ceccherini. Arnaldo viene cacciato di casa dalla moglie per un equivoco e si ritrova a condividere un appartamento con degli studenti di 20 anni. E' l'occasione per rivivere momenti della sua gioventù e ritrovare l'entusiasmo perso 'nel crescere'. In sala per 01 Distribution. 

Dunque per me il Pieraccioni divertente è quello di Il Ciclone e Fuochi d'artificio, non quello di Una moglie bellissima e compagnia cantante. Ogni volta che vede questo trailer però il mio ragazzo mi guarda con la faccia da San Bernardo quindi credo che in onore allo spirito buono del Natale, mi toccherà dargli una possibilità. E voi cosa andrete a vedere?

Un utente Youtube ha realizzato uno spettacolare montaggio di 6 minuti che omaggia ben 400 dei film usciti in sala in questo 2013. Io ne ho riconosciuti solo alcuni: Gangster Squad, R.I.P.D., The company you keep, Before Midnight, Arthur Newman, Kick Ass 2, The Lone Ranger, Oblivion, Only God Forgives, Red 2, Rush.
