" @astrxlfinale is hiding diamonds in his pants."
"Gray Mystery @astrxlfinale really is into old ladies, huh? What did he call me again? Gilf? No idea what that means but my age won't slow me down."
"I think my eyes need a bath..."
"Playing tricks will become that much more difficult, huh? And by difficult, I mean, a fun challenge."
"How long will it take before they realize that one of them isn't the real deal?"
About Cipher's childhood and the weight she carries...
It's cursed CURSED I SAY
We learn that Cipher is basically like a street rat, surviving by any means necessary. She wasn't blessed with wealth but cursed with nothing but her lies. Lies that not even Aglaea can feel with her threads despite knowing that the words that leave her mouth aren't truthful.
Well, what about her family? We learn that she lived with a woman as a child, a grandmother... Even back then, they had little money and knowing how unfair the world was, Cipher didn't hesitate to mention the idea of stealing. That being a crime and her own lack of skills due to her inexperience, got her easily caught. Yet the world was cruel and her entire family had to suffer... Yet when her grandmother spoke up, it wasn't just the death penalty that was on her mind. Taking the fall for her, Cipher found out that she was adopted as the woman could not life. Her whole life had been a lie and without knowing her true family, it wouldn't be a surprise if she was abandoned at an early age or perhaps taken by death.
Ultimately, Cipher was left on her own, to fend for herself. What choice did she have but to steal? Yet things started to shift once she met the Seamstress we know as Aglaea. Whereas most people wouldn't give her the time of day due to her place in society, Aglaea entertained her and bought her items despite it coming from dirty hands.
The only thing that was truthful in the world was money. It was no surprise that for someone who had nothing and whose life was a complete lie, that she was drawn to gold. She couldn't help but envy the Seamstress who was like gold itself, like a warm embrace that no wealthy person would give her. She didn't stare her down with distain and it was her only place of comfort.
But Cipher knew it might be nothing more than that. A street rat selling dishonest goods to beauty itself when she looked like that. Filthy, injured, no etiquette, no poise... It wasn't a surprise that insecurity plagued her mind. What made it worse was the fact that she wasn't just stuck to a life of lies and thievery but the fact that she was a Chrysos Heir. Someone special, or should have been. Yet all she was gifted was the blessing of trickery.
Learning this fact, Aglaea took her in and she never lived a life of poverty again. It was a blessing and she finally had the feeling that she had a place in this world. She felt the warmth of a home and gained comrades, friends. While it was impossible to let go of her ways, living in a selfish world made her act cold but her heart was always warm. Knowing what it was like to have the shorter end of the stick, she vowed to protect the people that needed it the most.
We also overhear the line as her time as a priest, where the prophecy predicted that the world as it was, would last for a mere 300 years... and most importantly, we learn about one of Cipher's skills: a lie becomes reality if everyone believes it. A skill so powerful that she made all of Okhema believe that they would live safely forever.
As easy as it was to tell the lie, as easy as it was to break the illusion. If one person learned the truth then all would shatter. Okhema would be no more... Just like her old home Dolos is no more and she is likely the only cat person left.
By this point in time, Cipher was confident in her abilities and her lies but there was one person who could always see right through her. Aglaea. If Cipher faltered and she found out what had been done then it would all fall to ruins. That meant that in order to protect the people she cared about, she had to leave. Live her own life in seclusion, the way she had done as a child. To avoid contact with her closest friends out of fear.
Cipher will hunt for a couple of stranded fish that Hysilens left behind after that wave... After she's out of sight of course
