This fandom has been the absolute best -- I joined a few months after the series ended, and finished both seasons within 2 months, I think?

What a wonderful show, and massive props and love to Alex Hirsch for giving this fandom one great big send off. With Journal 3, the Adventure book, Cipherhunt (and even now, the mysterious USB and the unaired pilot being behind a passworded page)...

I messed up a bit, but it’s 1:13am and my neighbors might get mad at me for singing so much. Also I don’t know how to match the instrumental that I found to my vocals, so here’s an acapella version until someone does an accompanied one!

guys! please stop insulting or calling names at the person that found the statue for not periscoping! Maybe they couldn’t do it -- my phone isn’t compatible with the periscope app, and I don’t have data. If it was me, I wouldn’t have been able to stream the find.

I’m sure if the person could stream it, they would have. Can we just be happy for them, and look forward to the people heading towards the statue now and streaming? Let’s make this a positive experience for everyone

@scribefindegil requested some positive vibes for the Cipher Hunt so I want to give a specific shout out!

Gravity Falls fandom has one of the best fan music community I’ve ever seen! All the songs and remixes are memorable, fantastic, and one of the main reasons I took up the ukulele!

@kerbabbles had a wonderful AU going on for awhile under the name of “Musical Falls.” Check out any of those songs submitted to that AU if you’re looking for anything from a 50′s do-wop from Bill to a heart wrenching song from Stan.

The remixes and covers are amazing, ranging from rap songs, techno remixes, percussion covers, and even swing songs!

There are the cool original music/parody songs like @knittinggiantbeanies “Primadonna Bill“ and “Insanity”. There’s the classic catchy fan songs like  “Supernatural” by Ken Ashcorp, the fun and upbeat songs that are popping up due to the Cipher Hunt like “Cipherhunt” by Love Patrol Beta (very special shout-out to this band: I discovered filk because of you all!), and the just plain cool songs like “deCipher” by Madame Macabre. These are all unique and I love them more with each listen!

And that’s not even getting into the work by Brad Breeck and that fantastic Bill Cipher song by Neil Cicierega (not to mention Alex Hirsch’s contribution to music history)!

Seriously, thank you to every single person in the fan music community! You help provide the soundtrack for this fandom and we are all the better for it!

@scribefindegil suggested using the tag #CipherHuntLove to spread positivity about the Cipher Hunt to combat the recent spread of negativity and discouragement. I think this is a great idea, and highly encourage others to do it! Here’s my two cents:

There are a lot of people to thank, of course. Alex Hirsch, for starters, for creating this in the first place. Ariel Hirsch and Jason Ritter for joining in the fun, May @ruzuki for making the long journey needed to bring the key to L.A., and everybody who’s participated, be it working with clues in person, deciphering things online, or just following along.

But I think there are a few others who could use a special shout-out:

Thank you to those reading the stream comments while physically at the puzzle solving, for letting those who couldn’t make it there in person nonetheless share their thoughts with those who could.

Thank you to those working at the physical locations where the clues were located, where hunters had to examine various nooks and crannies. And yes, this goes for the Salve Regina University staff, too, despite the disruption in the hunt that occurred there; I thank them for letting us know that the clue wasn’t there before anyone could waste time on a fruitless search, and for generally being good sports about their unexpected involvement in the whole thing.

Thank you to the owners and workers at the House of Pies, at the Denny’s, and at Emerald Knights Comics and Games, for letting a bunch of cartoon nerds congregate around a giant puzzle in their workplace, for giving them space to work in a location accessible to the public.

I thank all who have followed and/or participated in the Cipher Hunt. And I thank those who didn’t sign up for the hunt, who may not even have known what Gravity Falls was beforehand, but who nonetheless have helped make the hunt possible.

I've been switching medications lately, and staring down a big milestone birthday filled with reminders that I'm one step closer to the grave. But seeing everyone come together across three different countries to puzzle this out together has been filling me with energy and excitement! The Cipher Hunt reminds me big, crazy ideas are possible and big, crazy projects can not only be pulled off, but can bring so much happiness to other people. Thank you to everyone who's added fun, positivity and excitement to this crazy mystery, especially to the dedicated fans who've spent so much time on this puzzle clue, despite the frustration and exhaustion they must be feeling! I love all of you!
