here’s a small pedalboard made with four gems of the ‘90s, among the most under-rated stompbox effects of the whole guitar sub-continent.
while the green-hued DL6 delays have got the recognition they deserved across the most diverse genres, the blue-hued MM4 Modulation Modeller, and the yellow-hued DM4 Distortion Modeller were seldom seen in their heydays, and make for an even rarer encounter these days.
delays, matter-of-factly, are about the only stompbox effects that have not been refused by the guitarists’ general assembly because of their “digital-” prefix, as even the most conservative players have come to realize how non-digital delays hardly pass muster today beyond spaghetti-western-soundtracks and lo-fi indie styles.
anything else than delays, with the “digital-” prefix, is either junk for ‘80s euro disco freaks, or simply junk not worthy of being hooked to the finest, hand-wired, most-exotic boutique reissues of “analog-” classics of all times.
too bad, i got caught in this whirlpool once, and sold my whole Line 6 line-up to finance yet another guitar, or another batch of (digital, obviously) delays. had to run and grab them again (while supply last) where new-old-stock ones had been left idling and collecting dust.
simply put, i wish some of my strymons could cover all of their (equivalent) Line 6 modeller’s bases, but they can’t. even today, the 4-preset feature’s here, but hardly elsewhere, and all of them (minus the DM6 Distortion Modeller, as the first station after the guitar pickups) were already then fully stereo, two ins, two outs.
kit pictured here, along with the perfunctory Voodoo Labs Pedal Power AC screwed underneath the Pedaltrain p'board supplying the AC feed that fuels them (thus saving the user a hefty 4-brick PSU monster kit that weighs almost as all four pedals together (aluboard and velcro included, ça va sans dire), said kit pictured here goes entirely pro-bono to the honorable and mighty electro-pneumatic-swirling didgeridoo soloist that goes by the name of Etzekyel Yukhali, with my highest hope to help him expand his (already cosmic) sonic palette.
may you blow your ‘doos loud and mighty until their throb and your vibe reaches the next galaxy, Etze!
