Joel McRae sits with Bette Davis and three service men at a party at Ciro's following the premiere of The Talk of the Town on August 31, 1942. All proceeds were donated to fund the Hollywood Canteen's operations. Bette Davis was a co-founder with John Garfield and the driving force behind the Hollywood Canteen, serving as its president throughout the war. Joel McCrea was among the many high-profile stars who frequented and supported the venue’s mission to provide food and entertainment for servicemen.
