“Tsukumooo-chaaan!~ Look! Look over here!~ I’m a....”
“Mushroom!~” Yogi says in a happy tone as he stands there with the big mushroom hat (or whatever it is) on his head.

Nighttime Encounter

Shit. Gareki said nothing while dumping some books on one of the many shelves. He could organize them how he pleased later.”I....” For a change, he couldn’t make himself say something standoffish to make her leave him alone. He felt too sick to his stomach, now, to even want to be left alone.
To avoid speaking, he picked up more books. The more time he had to gather and process his thoughts, the better. While being a loner, he regarded Tsukumo as family, maybe even as a friend now. Frowning, he placed the last of the books on the shelves.
He inspected them, buying himself more time, though knew that he’d have to respond to Tsukumo soon. A few spines were cracked here and there, but nothing too serious. Putting aside the ones that would need to be taken care of, he finally turned to the fighter behind him.
“...Tea will be...fine.”

Personally, if Gareki had never met Circus or decided to become one of the organizations’ first combat physicians, he probably won’t give a shit about any of the casualties that happened. But he went through the training, he became a member of the Second Ship family. And while he would never admit it in front of anyone, he cared about them.
The higher ups could fuck themselves if they wanted to use these people, his family, as pawns, and expect him to be ok with it. As long as he could manage he would keep them alive.
Gareki furrowed his brows, seeing a slight tinge of discomfort coming from Tsukumo and carefully unwrapped and rewrapped the bandages so it wouldn’t be too tight. While he wanted to keep the wound from bleeding, he didn’t want to completely cut of circulation.
“Don’t!” His first word came out louder than intended. While he was upset, he didn’t want to yell at her. “I know you’re strong. But my job out here is to keep you guys alive. So don’t go saying that you’ll throw away your life for someone else. Because I’ll be damned if I let you fucking die while I’m around. Got it?”
[for Yogi] “Are you okay in there? You’ve been so quiet.”
“Huh— T-Tsukumo-chan! S-Shh... I-I’m trying to hide from Akari. Y-You haven’t seen him right?"
"How is Hearty doing?" Tsukumo asked gently after slowly approaching the pink haired doctor.
Akari looked up from the report he was typing to regard his new visitor. “He seems to be in good spirits today,” he said, musing internally at how all the Second Ship’s combatants had taken a liking to his furry pink pet.
“Have you come to visit him?”

[GAREKI] Akari just told me the truth behind Yogi’s so-called allergy. You’re supposed to be his friend, right? Shouldn’t he know this shit? He thinks of you people as family. What the hell...
I love watching the stars at night from my room.
Hirato set down his cup of tea and smiled. He deeply enjoyed these late night library discussions with Tsukumo. Although they were rare occasions, he always appreciated the good company and conversation.
"As fine as that view may be, I prefer to observe them from on top of the Ship. Have you ever studied them from there?"
"Gareki", Tsukumo called out his name, sounding vaguely excited, "Do you have some time?"
Gareki looked over his shoulder when he heard Tsukumo call out to him.
"Yeah, sure."
