The Council of International Student Australia (CISA) is the national peak student representative organization or peak body for international students studying at the postgraduate, undergraduate, private college, TAFE, ELICOS, and foundation level within Australia. CISA represents and advocates for the interests and needs of all international students, including education quality, academic misconduct, learning outcomes, immigration, employment rights, travel concessions, and accommodations. If you already know about the Australian term “peak body”, then you will know exactly what the goal of CISA is. This exciting event is their 9th National Conference, and interestingly, this is the first time this event is held in Perth, Western Australia. Running from 15 – 19 July in Pan Pacific Hotel, there were many speakers from a wide variety of different background and expertise attended. They all talked about many issues international students faced and how to deal with them. This is because international students also play an important role in the Australia Education System. The event was very interestingly designed. We attended the conference in the morning, asking tough questions, discussing several issues, and then having so much fun in the afternoon. We visited Perth Mint in which gold is formed, sailing along Swan River from Elisabeth Quay to Fremantle, and exploring City of Perth in an attractive way (Scavenger Hunt Game). Ultimately, there was a conference dinner at the end of the event and it was attended by The Hon Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia. To conclude, I am happy because I met many friendly international students from the different countries of origin. Here, I learnt, even networking takes practices, but if you engage, there will be more opportunities.
