This is both a sort of recoin of the term trisspecies, while simultaneously attempting to create a solid definition for trisspecies because I haven't been able to find one. Feel free to make flags; transspecies isn't as popular in the mogai community as other nonhuman labels.

My definitions are anti-radqueer and/or radqueer-critical. I am not radqueer.

Transspecies: identifying as and/or transitioning toward a species that is not the one you were born as.

Cisspecies: identifying as the species you were born as

Trisspecies: being both transspecies and cisspecies; and/or being somewhere between transspecies and cisspecies; and/or fluctuating between transspecies and cisspecies

Furries = Cultural appropriation

Just like wearing bindis when you are not South Asian or cornrows when you are not Black is cultural appropriation (because it only represents a stereotype of the original creators and you are just exercising your white privilege, for being able to wear these stuff without experiencing the oppression that comes from it), being a furry is exercising cis-species privilege and culturally appropriating animal and otherkin stuff.

Animals suffer atrocities at the hands of humans, without being able to defend themselves. And we, as otherkin, are bullied, harassed and invalidated on a daily basis.

An otherkin is an animal soul who happened to be born in the wrong body. A furry is a cis-species human wearing an animal costume. As soon as they get tired of being an animal, they just remove their animal costumes, and are not forced to deal with all the oppression animals and otherkin suffer on a daily basis.

You are mocking real animals and otherkin.

Just stop.

I request that these terms be a thing: Cisspecies: A term that applies to those who were born human and acknowledge it. Transspecies: A term that applies to those who were born human but feel that they were really meant to be born a different species (ex. Time Lord, Alternian etc.).

Finally Brave Enough

it took a little bit of time to work up the courage to be open about my true self. I am (and have always been) a lioness, but it wasn't until I came to tumblr and found all this support and togetherness and acceptance that I felt ready to truly be myself.

I get enough hate at school for what I am, I am tired of the cisspecies "norm" giving me dirty looks and shaming me for what I was born as.
