@citialiin ...crash lands in a land of demons. // sc!!
walking forward had little purpose than to take him to the next target. with a life of eternal darkness surrounding him other than the auras of those he encountered, there was very little he could say he comprehended - or even perceived. having just regained his sense of smell, he was more than able to make out the fresh smell of grass after it rained, or the distinct scent of the flowers growing alongside the dirt roads. forests were specially potent, with a freshness that set his mind at ease. though he was not one to panic or even emote much, there was something about the forest air that slowed his pace ever so slightly. but still, there was something far more important lying ahead. far more. but where was it? demons, of course.
just then, the entire ground shook beneath his feet. without hesitating, hyakkimaru turned as if on command, and looked off into the thicket ( though, of course, he could not see it ). through the darkness, he could just barely make out something - a red aura approaching. but it was not heading towards him, but rather towards something else that he could not make out. regardless, he made a beeline for it, running at such a rapid pace that he could have nearly tripped over the branches beneath him. and yet, somehow, he was nimble enough to avoid them.
an overwhelming screech. a bestial cry that shakes the air. though he registers the sound, he does not need to have heard it to know it is, without a doubt, a demon. he pops off his arm, unsheathing the blade hidden within, and begins his assault. with elegant flips, slashes, and a final slam onto the gigantic bug demon’s head, it was done. it lay on the ground in a heap, with hyakkimaru’s feet caked in its green blood. but still, he did not register even that - how could he, when he had no nerve endings to do so?
the red aura vanished into nothingness, as he stood there. but just as he did, something else appeared. a silver line with black, hollow insides. something he had never seen before, without a doubt. all human beings had silver souls, were of this earth. but this... this was quite different. without thinking twice, he approaches it, and kneels to the ground so that he might be at eye level with whatever sits before him. he is far too curious for his own good, dororo might have said. but he wasn’t here right now.
if only hyakkimaru were not blind, he would have made out the metallic craft that sat crash-landed on the forest floor, dislodging the local wildlife. though, he need not resort to sight, when he could smell something distinct in the air - copper, fire, and perhaps even rotting flesh. but of this, he cannot be sure. the copper is most overpowering of all.
hyakkimaru hesitates before extending his hands. the last time he did, something horrible came of it. a sharp pang in his chest was enough to stop him in his tracks. but was it worth it to use his voice, the sound of which was grating to his ears? but even if this entity before him cannot be perceived, something within him compelled him to say:
“ demon... “ he utters, finally. “ dead. you, safe. “
