‘…and I have spoken to Vernul about Dohna. Is she really interested in that job?’ He asked, washing the plates. ‘Can you clear the vessels and give them to me? I’ll wash all of it now.’
‘She’s quite interested, I think.’ Michelle said giving him the dishes to wash while Dohna entered soaked in rain water. ‘Dohna!, what happened to you? You’re all wet.’
‘Don’t even ask. It was a horrible evening.’ She said and swiftly went to their bedroom.
‘Good night. Let’s talk about Modiano tomorrow, I’ve read a few books of his.’ She said to him, after cleaning the table and went to bed. Dohna was already in bed, listening to the solo guitar sessions that she had recorded recently.
‘Anirban said that he is going to meet Vernul, to talk about your job.’
‘Really? And what else have you told him about me? Have you also told him…’

Dohna came back quite late so Michelle did not get a chance to tell her that Krishna had run away and both she and Anirban had not found him. Before she came, Michelle brought a few vegetables for a quiet dinner.
‘Are you cooking tonight?’ Asked Anirban from the terrace outside, putting his book on the table.
‘Yes, I thought I could have a quiet evening today. Are you staying back as well?’ She almost screamed, catching her breath after keeping the bags in the kitchen. ‘I should probably tell him about the emails today.‘ She thought and screamed louder while she took a bottle of water from the fridge ‘I’m making salad and some pasta. Do you want to join?’
‘I’ve already cooked for tonight. I’ll heat mine as well and let’s eat together.’ He went back to reading.
‘Not right now. In some time. I’ll take a shower first. I’m soaked in sweat.’ Sitting down on the table with him ,she said and opened the bottles of beer that she had brought for both of them. ‘Do you want a beer?’
He laughed. ‘You’ve already opened it anyway.’

1972, November 25
LRCC report from 2003 reveals that the same group has been active in other areas as well. In 2002, the report claims, the same group was responsible to abduct 200 children from City of Drama. The committee found human bones in the river which led to another investigation with the help of LEFD. Though the department offered the same information to the office of City of Drama’s mayor, the office refused to take information or action against these acts.
The office never issued a statement about it. All the attempts of the media to question the mayor about it have failed ever since. In 2005, LRCC called the government officials in the City of Drama, modern day Neros who looked away when innocents were killed and eaten. They further launched another investigation and set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT). SIT has never been able to conclude its report.

‘She came here?’
‘Yeah, she came here, looking for you in the evening, around 6 I think.’
‘OK, I met her actually. She came to see me at the hospital.’
‘Oh yeah, she said she was going to see you. I was sort of working then…’
‘I wanted to tell you something. Tell me when you are free.’
‘What?’
‘Let’s talk later when we’re not running around.’
‘I heard Dohna did not get the job. How did that happen?’
‘She says that they have some issues with her status here. They want someone with some kind of passport. It’s kind of a strange situation.’
‘What do you mean some kind of passport? She was born in India, right?’
‘Yes, she was born here but she can’t apply for a passport because her parents have asked her not to.’
‘I don’t really understand.’
‘They follow all the teachings of Shedra, where they and Dohna, both have studied…’
‘Do you mean Shedra asks them not to apply for a passport?’
‘It’s a bit more complicated than that. I’m not sure about all of them but their Shedra is highly devoted to the cause so her parents think it’s not good for the cause if a student gives up.’
‘How is this giving up? Don’t you think it’ll make things easier.’
‘It perhaps will… anyway, that’s why they have an issue. They don’t seem to trust her or they haven’t told her what the issue is, the school I mean.’
‘Let’s see, I’ll speak to Vernul. He seems nice. I don’t know why he would say such a thing to Dohna. Do you think she can work as an accountant?’
‘Yes, why?’
‘Well, maybe they don’t need a teacher, they certainly needed an accountant.’
‘All right, I think she can. You’ll have to ask her though.’

1972, November 5
The Lareez River Conservation Plan (LRCP 2001), aimed at preventing pollution of rivers and improving water quality. The department of environment and forest, in the coming years, set up a committee (LRCC) to investigate the causes of polluted water. This committee is a group of environmentalists, headed by a 117 year old tortoise (a Golapagos family descendant) who comes out for two hours everyday from his house that he had built during the great green revolution of the early 1960s.
LRCC’s report concluded that one of the barbaric underground groups of human animals, from Teclima had become active again. The report further explains that this group had worked in the same areas in late 1980s when Lareez Environment and Forest Department (LEFD) took help in removing their leader, Drahninbalew. The group was found trafficking 300 children for food. This group used the river to drop the remains of the dead bodies.
This pile of dead bodies with the lack of habitation in the west Lareez side of Eriehn created a wall of slowly rotting flesh which contributed to the water crisis of 1990s. Activities of the group in more modern times, have become more complex and the consequences on the river and Lareez, direr. This, they found out, is the main cause of the mudflats developing in forlorn Eriehn.
