THINK BIG
Bernie Sanders ends his speeches which are wonderful bold speeches by the way, with a call for us to “think big”. Our problems are big so are his solutions and it’s nice he asks people who are accustomed to only complaining on Facebook and other social media to think big but we need to do more. We need to act together. You can’t just ask people to get out there and “do something” go...hey you.. go make a revolution. That’s like telling me to go be an NFL quarterback. As a ardent supporter, volunteer and activist in the Bernie Sanders for President movement I am still hoping and waiting for this/our campaign to act in a revolutionary way. So far other than only taking small donations I see nothing very different or revolutionary in it and that saddens me.
What could we be doing together that's revolutionary?
Ask everyone to take money out of corporate banks and put deposits into community banks and credit unions. The big banks are too big and too powerful but the people can change that.
Create a "People's News" app and printed newspaper anyone can sell to raise money for themselves to help survive this terrible redistribution of our wealth to the top 1% economy! It would feature news about what really matters not what the corporate media feeds us.
Ask every volunteer to mail a physical letter of our priorities a demand letter to our elected reps in state and federal office that align with your/our campaign. This is part of what being a participating citizen is about and why not start now. We are the 99% only matters if we all stand up and speak up! Think of us as the "people's ALICE" on a local scale. You create a template people's demand letter and millions of us mail it out to elected officials.
Ask every volunteer to go out in our communities and help a neighbor, help a homeless person find food and social services, volunteer at a food bank or shelter, go build the America we want to see one street and one act of kindness at a time! Be a participating citizen! Now! We can't wait for politicians to save us all, that's OUR job as citizens to save each other.
