Applying for POEA Travel Exit Clearance
Another reason why it's such a hassle coming home to Philippines is applying for Exit Clearance at POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration). Why I need to do this?
Because since I am officially an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker), I need to let the government know I've come back but will leave the country again to work abroad. I've blogged about my stupidity when I didn't know I need to apply for POEA last 2009. It's in my other blog here.
But good news to you OFWs! You can now apply online, print the application form and head to your nearest 2GO (Aboitiz) pay them and have them delivered to POEA! They'll have it delivered to you in 4-5 days! No more queueing up! No more waiting for you number to be called!
Check out this site: http://www.citizenservices.com.ph/. Here, you can apply for passport renewal, NSO birth certificate and POEA services.
I was skeptical at first but decided to just do it, can't be bothered travling 4 hours to Manila and then lining up for a few hours then another 4 hours coming back to the boonies.
1. Go to http://www.citizenservices.com.ph/
2. Fill out the OFW Exit Clearance Form
3. Download and print the form. Don't forget to sign the paper!
4. Provide photocopy of: your passport, visa stamp and date of arrival in Philippines
5. Submit these in a sealed brown envelope to and head to 2GO
6. Pay Php 2,650.00 for everything (return-delivery included)
7. Sit back, relax and wait for you documents to arrive.
I submitted my papers last Feb 1, 2011 and received my Exit Clearance on Feb 4, 2010. So fast and easy! Plus customer service who answered my call at POEA was quite friendly!
note: I have a (Z) Work Visa in China. Think requirements would be different if you hold a different country's visa.
