He wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a chuckle before speaking. “I have sharp teeth uncle.” The room laughed. Richard was challenged. He looked at Bishop dead in the eyes with rage. His young eyes held a thrust for more. They were green with greed. Wishing he could crush the shimmer in them. Bishop wore the look of a smartass. Richard shared in the laugher to show he was still in control. “I see.” He paused as the room grew silent. Picking his words like they were fine jewels.  “I see. Sharp teeth for a small cub. Howl would sure be proud. I’ll give you The Moving Castle.”

A poem I wrote to get over the Experience of my homeboy, lover, and best-friend "bro" Anthony J. Cleveland. I hope this helps not just me but others who are in that "it's complicated" relationship.

Him and I started our kinship when I was 22. I wrote this after our break-up at age 26. We broke up when I was 25.

Our "official break-up" (for wee had many) was in Summer 2020 when I was 25.

So he saw me grow-up. His family thought wrong about mee. Now wee no longer speak.

But I will always be his Phatboy.
