Clack Week 2017 Day 6 -- Diary / Box
Background Cissnei totally does not know why Cloud has your diary, Zack, or why that page was coincidentally bookmarked. Totally.
Clack week day 2 - prompt sun/wing
Unintentionally, I guess it’s almost both prompts... and it’s also probably the only art I’ll make set in this time period.
Clack Week 2017 Day 4
Day 4: Uniform/Make-up
. . . . .
Arching his back as he stretched, Zack let out a low groan of relief. These constant monster extermination missions were killer. If this kept up, he’d be too exhausted to go on any dates!
He grinned to himself, thinking of the cute blond that he hadn’t managed to ask out yet. He would. Eventually. Cloud was just always busy with missions or training or-
Zack sighed, smile fading as he tipped his head back.
Clack Week Day 6: Diary Dear Diary, Zack Fair has the most gropeable ass I've ever seen. It's so distracting in class. Does he even know how hot he is? He must. -- Dear Diary, Zack's actually a pretty cool guy. We had a mission together. I think we might be friends now? How do you friend? This is new territory. -- Dear Diary, Pizza and movies at Zack's tonight was a lot of fun. Until I fell asleep. Woke up leaning on him. How embarrassing. He didn't seem upset at least. He's a pretty touchy-feely guy though, so I guess it wasn't a big deal for him. -- Dear Diary, Had a little too much to drink last night. Woke up on the couch. It wasn't my couch. I hope I didn't say anything stupid. -- Dear Diary, I touched the butt. It is as gropeable as it looks. I'm gonna touch it more. Maybe every day.
Clack week 2017 Day 2
When I sat down to write this, I thought it would be fluff and sunshine. But Cloud didn’t want to work with me and this happened :<
Day 2: Sun
“Helloo? Did you hear a word I said just now?” Zack’s amused voice shook Cloud from his reverie. They were on their way to Midgar after yet another mission and had stopped to Costa de Sol on their way back. Cloud had been motion sick all the way back. The moment they had been dismissed for the day, he had crawled into their room to enjoy some peace, quiet and blessedly immobile floor.
“Sorry sir.” Zack grimaced when he heard his answer.
“Stop with the sir, we’re off the clock now. Besides, there is no need for formalities between us country boys.” Cloud’s stomach did a flip. Zack remembered him! “I came up here to ask if you were feeling better. It would be a shame to miss the chance for a little sunbathing.”
“Yes si- I mean, thanks.”
“Lets go then. Everyone else is already on the beach.” Zack wore only a pair of black swimming shorts. They were slightly damp and he had sand in his hair. He was gorgeous. It was clear to Cloud, that Zack already been on the beach with everyone, enjoying himself. Cloud on the other hand still wore his uniform. He hadn’t packed for sunbathing.
“Um…”
“Oh, and don’t worry, I got you these.” Zack dug a small packet from his back pocket. Swimming trunks with a bright yellow Chocobo print. “I’ll wait for you downstairs.”
---
Cloud didn’t know how Zack had managed to cajole their pilot, a redheaded Turk, to stop at this place for one day. Official story was a slight motor malfunction that needed immediate attention. Cloud didn’t buy it. He could see the Turk in a bar when he came down.
He wanted to escape back upstairs – he couldn’t be seen like this! His squad mates would never let him live this down. They already teased him for hairstyle, they didn’t need any more ammunition against him. They’d probably hum I want to ride my chocobo all day and tell dirty jokes about riding for weeks if they saw him now. But it was too late to back down. Zack had already seen him.
“Hey there, Chocobo. Looking good.” Zack grinned at him and completely ignored Cloud’s sudden suspicious stare.
“Did you just call me Chocobo because you forgot my name?” he asked more harshly than he had intended. Smile died on Zacks’s face.
“Cloud. You sure you’re all right buddy?” He sounded concerned and reached for the blonde’s shoulder. Cloud felt ashamed by his outburst. Ifrit, Zack was the last man on planet he wanted to offend. He was genuinely kind and good-natured and it wasn’t his fault that he wouldn’t consider that nickname taunting.
“Yeah, sorry. Guess I’m still a bit tired after the trip.” he offered to Zack’s sandals. Zack answered by ruffling his hair. Cloud was suddenly glad that he was looking down, he could feel his face heating up. He was standing next to the subject of his daydreams, they were both basically half-naked and Zack was touching him.
“Don’t worry Spike. I bet you’re hungry huh? Let’s go for dinner, my treat.” Zack beamed. When Cloud started to protest, he could buy his own meal, but Zack didn’t let him even start. “It’s thanks to you that we have this little break. It was because of you being so sick it was easy to convince our pilot to take a break here instead of flying through the night.” He whispered conspiratorially and slung his arm over Cloud’s shoulders.
Clack Week Day 1: Stylist AU
PART 1:
“Genesis is really fucking pissed,” Zack said simply as he tugged the plastic cape around Cloud’s neck. Zack, who was normally quite gentle with the talent, was swearing like a soldier. He felt the blond deserved it, anyway. Nobody else was plucky enough to yell at the guy.
Cloud Strife--a name that Zack was positive was an alias of some sort--was a dainty male model known for his angelic face and his long blond hair that he kept iconically tied at his neck. Typically he and Sephiroth came as a pair. This job was supposed to be very run-of-the-mill for Cloud: Wear the clothes, hold the cologne bottle, go home.
The theme was Saint and Sinner. Sephiroth played the role of a demon and would hold the black bottle of fragrance. Cloud, the angel, would hold the white bottle of fragrance.
Now Zack’s job was so much harder because Cloud strides into work half an hour late and there’s just no ponytail. There’s nothing. Cloud’s just sporting this messy array of blocky blond spikes that seems to have no real order.
And of course Genesis saw it and threw a fit. Of course he would. Cloud didn’t match up with Sephiroth anymore and the ethereal feel was unbalanced. Extensions and wigs were out. It wasn’t like Zack happened to plan for it and had the stuff on hand anyway.
“So we’re going in a different direction,” Zack said simply, spritzing the pale hair with a spray bottle. He came around to Cloud’s front and shamelessly hit him dead in the face with the spray as a sort of ‘shame on you’.
“I’m changing the length ‘cause you look cross between a pyramid and a chocobo’s ass. Who did this to you?” Zack spoke as if he was personally offended with the act of Cloud getting a bad haircut. He probably was. If someone was going to touch Cloud’s hair, it should’ve been someone more practiced with it.
It should’ve been him.
He started to cut it, flicking the snippets of butter-blond hair off to one side. Essentially, it felt like he was doing more damage than good. Yet, he did know Cloud was attractive under this mess. Cloud knew it too. He had to.
The new focus of the hair now was to show off his face, frame it well, and make him unique.
Zack was easily twice Cloud’s size, burly and bohemian at the same time. His left arm sported a sleeve of feather and flower tattoos and his right had the beginnings of a thin band of patterns around his bicep. It had started as a way to cover up his scars from his time in the military but things got out of hand and he kept getting more than he needed. He was quick on his feet, though. He liked his job and had dealt with Cloud’s notorious bullshit more than once so he had no problem teasing him. For some reason the blond let him get away with it, fussy as he was.
When he had cut some shape into it and rubbed a paste in to keep the intricate spikes in place, he stepped back and pulled out his phone. A quick text to Genesis and some photographic evidence of a job well done would certainly pull the photoshoot along. Front, back, profile right, and profile left. He got the okay to continue, but be quick about it. He shoved his phone in his back pocket and took a brief moment to admire the person in front of him.
He felt something in his chest tighten. Damn, he’d done good.
After he pulled up his stool, he got to the makeup. “You know,” Zack laughed softly. “I like it way better this way. This’ll lead to a few more jobs for sure. Look up, please.” He worked carefully on the eyes--these were the hardest part with a lot of people. “I’m really biased though. I mean, you were really pretty before but--” He stopped himself before he got too far, pretending to fiddle with a tube of mascara. He took a breath and shyly applied it before putting the cap back on and organizing his materials again. Cloud’s electric blue eyes opened in the most startling way and Zack felt that tightening feeling in his chest again.
He cleared his throat. “Hope you like it, anyway.” Some part of him hoped Cloud would keep it like that for a little while. Zack worked almost exclusively on a lot of his own preferences and the result looked striking on Cloud. He hadn’t really considered the guy to be his type before. Now he was.
And it was hitting him like a ton of bricks.
Well, of course he was into the way he looked! He wouldn’t create something he didn’t like. Of course he was attracted to it!
Well, fuck!
“You did a bad and I’m not encouraging you,” He said as he closed his boxes and removed the plastic cape from around the blond’s neck. His gaze sunk to curves of his shoulders and his throat.
He didn’t look him in the eye as he walked past and pulled the garment bag off one of the racks. Cloud got switched to black when they did the new direction. He was desperate to see the full ensemble. He knew he wanted like four copies of the finished advertisement too.
This was bad.
He was totally encouraging him. “But do you wanna get food after? Or coffee that people actually put effort into making maybe?”
