clairestanfield replied to your post okay so I’m actually REALLY irritated at the NA version of KHUX as of...
Honestly SENA has been treating KHUX players so??? Poorly???? Everything they do seems like a cash grab and it's hard to want to support them when I need to do a 10+ pull to get the medal advertised in the EMC. That's 30k right there-- it takes weeks for f2p to get enough jewels for one pull let alone 10z not to mention with no M&B guilting these medals are impossible if ur f2p. It's just ????? SENA pls
ok so now that I’ve had a day to calm down I can talk about this coherently rofl
I totally agree that everything about the EMCs feels like a huge cash grab on the part of the NA version -- if you work out the experiences with my sister and myself, the calculated probability of drawing the Terra and Ven medals is less than 1%. I say “less than” because we’re guaranteed those medals on the tenth draw so that doesn’t even count towards the probability. This would be bad enough if the jewel packs were cheap, but at $15 for 3k jewels, this is ridiculous, as we basically have to be willing to spend around $150 to get just one of these medals, forget guilting them. (But considering the JP version has those same jewel packs for $12, and there’s some possible exchange rate reasoning in there, the NA version can’t really be blamed for the high prices.) I’m also iffy on the Mickey/Brooms issue, because NA does have the advantage of premium medals cycling back into the EMC every time; in the JP version, most if not all illustrated medals were offered once and then they were gone for good. (But again, our chances of drawing these premiums in the first place are stupidly low so in a way they might as well have only been offered once.) So I guess I can understand their slowness in releasing them, but I agree that it’s necessary they do so at some point.
BUT, as I said before, doing Terra and Ven back-to-back was a totally selfish move on NA’s part because they had to have known that a good chunk of the player population spent most (if not everything) they had on their attempts to get Terra, who was ridiculously elusive. I now fully expect them to drop Aqua this upcoming Friday as yet another smack in the face, at which point I’ll have lost all faith in whoever’s supposed to be in charge of maintaining a good relationship with the community. gj, mate.
Square Enix isn’t stupid. They had to have known that the only players drawing for Ven this week would be the top players who pay for everything or those like myself who have been waiting for this medal and are willing to drop a few bucks in to get him. I don’t expect a handout, because these medals wouldn’t be premium if they were common, but having a guarantee for one medal as high as $150 is beyond laughable. It’s pathetic. But again, this started in the JP version, so the NA can’t be held responsible for that -- but they can cool their jets with back-to-back EMCs and stupidly pay-favored high score events that few people actually enjoy.
It’s kind of funny -- in a morbid way -- that when Terra dropped I saw all this excitement on twitter and reddit and in my KHUX party about trying to get him. Now, a week later, Ven drops and the common consensus seems to be “I can’t even try for him because I have nothing left” or “it’s not worth trying because I know his rarity is ridiculous.” My party, in particular, isn’t even bothering aside from myself.
I hate to say it, but I’m hoping Ven gets a crap amount of draws this week to reiterate what should have been obvious: not everyone’s made of money, not everyone’s willing to spend money at the drop of a hat (least of all for a phone app), and we don’t appreciate getting screwed over with a paywall on top of drawing odds that are painfully low (largely because they won’t remove those freakin farmables).
