Stuff I think I forgot to post here
drew this man many moons ago never posted !!
Okay read splinter as much as I think it kind of generally sucked I was really fond of Clancee and Lloyd's dynamic and Clancee in general he was really good
Mhm
Clancee portrait
As annoying as Clancee is, I gotta give him some credit for standing up against Nadakhan. And not just with his third and final wish where he says his two bits, but earlier too. Clancee made the decision to hide the venom, rather than disposing of it as Nadakhan would've wanted.
Though... now that I think about it, that's giving me a weird vibe. Why did he choose to keep the venom, but continue to be nothing but supportive of Nadakhan throughout the wedding?
I'm not really sure how I feel about this strange little Serpentine. It's thanks to him that the ninja were able to defeat Nadakhan with the dart. But he's also the one that conveniently lost his stutter when it mattered most and finished the wedding ceremony.
I can't help but feel like he had some greater goal in mind. By not making wishes, hiding the venom, and choosing to remain the bottom rung of the crew, it's almost like Clancee was planning something. I'm not sure what, and obviously he failed, but something makes me think that he wanted a bit more than swabbing the deck for his future.
Was Clancee plotting for himself? Was he pretending weak just to steal Nadakhan's power? Was he prepared to help the ninja, only to turn on them in the last minute? Did he finally snap at the end, his carefully constructed facade crumbling when he lost patience? What is this snake's story?
You know what, maybe I've just been infected by all of @silkieluv's awesome posts on Nadakhan's crew. That works too.
I thought Flintlocke's job was to watch and order, Nadakhan's to just watch, and the others to follow Flintlocke's orders. Turns out,
Clancee's a delivery boy (and off-topic, but yet another mastermind, manipulative move from Clancee. He was bringing back alcohol for the crew, and a tool for probably Monkey Wrench, nothing that has anything to do with buying (probably stealing) a newspaper. He clearly searched for something against the ninja to either suck-up to Nadakhan, or help him get rid of them faster to quicken whatever plan he has in mind. That's when he found out about Nya, and took it to his advantage to manipulate Nadakhan. Clancee is very much so Nadakhan's favorite (WHICH, BY THE WAY, I will never forgive Nadakhan for. I mean, I let him get away with a lot of things, BUT LIKING CLANCEE?? Unforgivable, simply inexcusable.), and Nadakhan is very open and patient with Clancee ("No Clancee, I was talking to myself", and the fact he never hides his Delara watch from him unlike he does with Flintlocke. Anyways, Clancee knows Nadakhan's weak spots and knows he's in a very sensitive state due to having to leave his realm and watch it fall apart, just as he was ready to accept his title as king. That newspaper came to perfect timing for Clancee and he used that as leverage. Otherwise, why bother? The newspaper clearly says 'Nya' under her mugshot.)
Monkey Wrench is very much so a free spirit. I talk about it more in my Dark Island Trilogy analysis which is still drafted because I have other characters I need to work on, but Monkey Wrench joined Nadakhan right after turning into a monkey. No convincing, no being shunned, he was literally like 'thanks!' and joined (also being the first member.) Clearly, you can see him here enjoying his role and having fun upgrading the ship. Bouncing around from one wood pole to another, jumping on spinning I-dont-know-name-of-but-you-can-see-in-the-second-picture, and sliding from side to side on Flintlocke's shoulders. At first I didn't understand why he wanted to join, but now I realize I've seen him as human too much. Not only is he a pirate, he's also a monkey. They let him be animalistic.
Also more importantly and what I was actually meant to mention, Dogshank isn't the only powerhouse in the crew. Both her and Doubloon are very impressive with their weights, and are the muscle of Misfortune's Keep. I didn't catch the frame, but before he's carrying the box at the size of his head, Doubloon carries a box at the size of his entire body. And Dogshank's pretty obvious, if we reduce her character to one thing it's her strength and every antonym gentle has.
Finally, the thing that surprised me most is Flintlocke actually working, and for some reason without his hat? I guess his hate could be strictly for air navigation, but I think he's just a little drunk in this scene (TAKE THE HAMMER AWAY FROM HIM)
I don't know why, but I really thought Flintlocke was more of a commander than a commandee. That's not a word.
I guess I just never thought of them starting out as 6 people, and already added the rest of the crew. At first I totally agree he's physically help, but after? He has a huge crew to command and do his biddings for him. Plus, he's too busy with blueprints, schedules, suspecting Nadakhan, watching over Jay, getting drunk (IT'S FIVE OCLOCK SOMEWHERE AM I RIGHT) (he would totally say that if he was a woman in his 30s from our time), etc etc.
Also, super cool detail. That door is same door that is installed for the captain's room in Misfortune's Keep early sky days,
As we can clearly see, it's not the same door later on when Jay is ordered to join the captain in dinner.
Another thingI just noticed (ish). In this post it's mentioned that Dogshank isn't big enough to fit through the door, and that opening the vent might be an option for how she got in and I'm like. Hell yes. At first I thought she could just squeeze in, but then I noticed how thin the lower area of the door is and I'm like. Nuh uh, no way. Vent.
No new detail, just honorable mentions. Golden utensils, most likely taken from Djinn castle ('hm. my realm is dying. should I save it and my father? Nah! Utensils.' - Nadakhan. Pirates gotta be pirating I guess),
same chicken and ?rice? Zane made in s1 when he was made fun of for wearing pink. I know it's because they reused the items, but the servings (like the plates used for serving the food) are exactly the same, so I say the pirates robbed/raided Ninjago City's homedepot (and probably enslaved chefs too because if it got to the point where it looks like Zane's food, you know no pirate made it). Most likely chicken wraps/rolls on the right, meat & green skewers, and worse of all.
Candles (also suspected to be taken from homerealm). Candles. Really Nadakhan, of all things, candles and purple lighting.
A quick google search helped me know that purple lighting typically symbolizes a commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence. Clearly, Nadakhan 180 that shit and misread the 'ending' part of the sentence. (also, religiously, purple can also symbolize deep regret/sorrow, which if you believe in the captain's quarters theory, it can also back it up a little + purple also symbolizes royalty, which we all know Nadakhan's pampered bum had to have noticed.
Yellow light on the other hand is used to not only symbolize happiness (Nadakhan's playfulness), but also to warn/alert people (like on the street way and there's a yellow light before it turns red/green), lack of bravery, again, wealth (Nadakhan you narcissist), and finally, induce a sense of unease/ trigger an unhealthy amount of critical thinks in individuals. THERE WERE SIGNS JAY WHY DIDNT YOU FOLLOW?? SEE??? SEARCH????
I don't know how this became so off-topic, this was supposed to be about the crew's working roles.
