the one thing i will applaud Attack on Titan for, is how accurate they displayed human emotions. most animes make out their characters to have an unhumanly amount of courage drawn from some sappy back story, but Eren is not running off of courage. He's practically insane and possessed by this hatred of Titans.

I also like how they did the emotions of Soldiers. Many soldiers are suicidal and one of my favorite scenes is when that one soldiers confesses he does not want to be a soldier anymore because instead of feeling sad or angry when he friends died, he was happy it wasn't him. That is like the most realistic display of human emotion I've ever seen.
