I stayed up with my partner to watch this ep and then it was TWO MINUTES LONG we were so tired what the helllllllllllllllll

Apparently I would have had more time to write my fic lol (which means you all have time to read it)

“You are quiet today” TODAY?

Before I start to unpack the hellhole that is “Clara’s father doesn’t know”, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed that Frank finally spoke and it was only TWO LINES. Yet... this little interaction told us a lot of information. First of all, that Frank is not all silent and quiet. He probably is like that only when Clara is with friends/in therapy, or even when her father is around. Because of how close they were, and the fact that Frank was pushing her to do something she had been avoiding; that’s the kind of advice that comes from a good friend who knows you well. Maybe he is sort of a parental figure to her, because her dad is a mess and her mom is dead. It’s obvious they care about each other deeply. And I’m glad, gods, I’m glad that Clara has someone who’s on her side literally always present. 

Ok now all together: WHAT THE HELL, CLARA

Wait a goddamn minute because I’m not sure if I’m reading this right. There are two options:

She hasn’t told her father about STILL wanting to commit physician-assisted-suicide.

She NEVER TOLD HIM AT ALL

Like maybe her comments about how her dad wasn’t handling well the fact that she’d soon be gone was because of her disease? But maybe I don’t remember it well.

Either way, it’s gonna be one hell of a conversation.

What I liked the most about this episode is how real it felt to me as a person who goes to therapy. Like, the doctor asking Clara if she was using a specific coping mechanism that she’s used in the past, because Kessler has been treating her for five years. “I thought I grew out of that”, but then Kessler reminds her that it’s ok, that it’s normal. Recovery isn’t a straight path, so this snippet of conversation really solidifies for me that Clara has been on a journey in therapy, that she has achieved a lot and become much healthier. Which, in turn, shows the audience that the decision to take her own life probably doesn’t come from a depressive state of mind, and is rather a well-thought decision.

which makes it even more irresponsible lol. “These are problems that can’t be fixed” is literally what every suicidal person thinks. I get the creeps every time the show validates her decision. Let’s just hope no impressionable mentally ill teenagers are watching lol

LINC HASN’T CALLED I AM PAIN. I am also not surprised. And honestly I think it’s the healthiest thing he can do right now. But then he’s gonna go and do something stupid, I know it in my bones.

I’m glad that we’re apparently gonna meet Clara’s dad! Very glad. I am so curious.
