I had eyes that cut through lies, I had lungs that breathed eternity. Felt I'd lived my whole wretched life just to prepare me for that moment.

Rewatching the old guard and I forgot how much I love the old vs new immortal duo.
It can be romantic or platonic but theres just something so interesting about immortals that have seen pretty much all the good and the bad in the world vs an immortal that only just became immortal like 2 days ago and is so optimistic about the world but also has no idea what being immortal is like. Or the other way around where the old one is optimistic about the world and the younger one is like what do you mean I’m going to live through centuries of this crap.
Or when a ‘new’ immortal is like 300 years old and they think they have seen everything until they meet someone who is 1000 and is like ???
Bonus points if the immortality is something they actually enjoy and would hate to have it end because they can be sad about it but lets be honest the trope of immortal just wanting to be mortal has gotten boring.
Despite saying that - the only time I have ever liked the immortality is a burden trope is in true blood with godric because he is 2000 years old that he has just become so emotionless and genuinely believes that his existence is wrong and the idea that it isn’t is a lie hes told eric (whose like 1000) in order to keep him alive. I think that this mostly worked because they showed how different he was in comparison to the younger vampires.
