THE WITCHER (2019– ) Season 1, Episode 1: "The End's Beginning"
@lgbtqcreators creator bingo: blending + angst EMMA APPLETON as RENFRI OF CREYDEN
Witcher 1.01 "The End's Beginning
I love the idea of Renfri having the most complicated schedule out of everyone but Ciri. Because Mouse is at the stage where her schooling seems to be complete, Livi, Sasha & Milena are adults, the Maja is with the trainees for control classes and Jan the rest of the time, and her sisters are getting the trainee but also tutoring to catch up track.
Then you have Renfri who's lessons seemed to be sabotaged by her stepmother, so while she is literate and more well rounded than most peasants would be, she's also probably not on the same level as Ciri when it comes to history, geography, etc. Not to mention any speciality skills she may want to learn. So I'm just imagining Coen going into to dad mode and collecting all the schedules for the various class times & topics and trying to cobble together a schedule for his daughter like a frantic high school counselor. On the bright side you mentioned that he used to live up near Gilmeth's clan so maybe he can do some tutoring.
Oh, Shrike's schedule is packed. Lessons with the trainees, dagger practice with Zofia, Dwarvish lessons and general hanging out with Gilmeth, running about with Ciri - she's a busy girl. Coen is so very proud to see her blossoming. Shrike is happier than she had realized she could be.
I'll foever be in pain over the wasted potential of the witcher netflix series
i was feeling so shitty recently with no ability to actually play the witcher 3 that i actually booted up s1e1 of the netflix show *for comfort*. Huge mistake, typically, I hate the witcher netflix with a burning passion with only very few exceptions (Joey Baitey the could never make me hate you and your performance as Jaskier)
I ended up positively suprised.
Cuz there's something Geralt says to Stregobor nefore leaving his tower:
"Evil is evil, Stregobor. Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit judging you, I havem't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all."
And that? That's a direct quote from the book. The crossed out parts? The only lines that were cut/changed.
They had something. They were doing something. Something good, even. But it seems for every faithful adaptation, for every good decision made to honor the books, they fucked up 5 more.
Istg my arch nemesis in season 1 will forever be "If life could give me one blessing, it would be to take you off of my hands" and "Who's Yennefer?"
