it was the things other people had said that pushed clara to leave them. comments about her being too young to have only ever loved one person — that their friendship transitioning into a relationship was probably just because that's what they were 'comfortable' with. as she stands outside their place with tear-streaked cheeks, she feels utterly hopeless as she waits and waits until the door finally opened. the flow of tears starts up again the second she lays her eyes on them and immediately she's shaking her head. "i'm sorry — i'm so sorry. i know it's late. i just had to see you."

“you know, i’m really starting to question your taste in lovers because you spent how long with him? i didn’t think he was that insufferable when you were together.” granted, there was no reason for jaime’s ex to be nice to her now. she’d ‘stolen his girlfriend’ right from under his nose. not like it had been hard. or intentional. she stopped in her kitchen to pour herself a glass of wine since what she’d drank at the pub that evening hadn’t been enough to touch the sides of the headache that she felt coming on.
