I'm just wondering where I will be able to order the art book when it's ready. I just love the idea and want to support fellow ace people and artists :)

Now that I actually try to think about what I liked about the first book, the more I think I liked it because it was popular. Everyone told me Divergent was amazing so I though it was going to be good before I even read it. I guess I thought it was unique and Tris's journey from weakling to badass made me feel like I could be badass too. But I could pick up another popular dystopian book and feel the exact same thing.

My point exactly.

There's nothing wrong with liking a book because it's popular - it's always great to be able to read something and then talk about with lots of people who are really passionate about it - and if it makes you feel as if you could be badass too, that's great!

I just find it sad that, as much as the 20th century gave us some amazing dystopian novels, the 21st century hasn't delivered much (yet?). So I'm just going to reread Orwell and Bradbury and Heller and Huxley and every once in a while I'll try out the new book everybody's raving about - hoping it'll be just as thought-provoking.

And no stupid love triangles anymore.

I actually liked the first book and the second book was ok but I couldn't even get through half the third book. I tried but it felt so cliched and forced I couldn't finish it.

I have so many issues with the first book though

the forced romance being one of them, the fact that the girl (TRISS right??? not tess lmao) had to become badass and amazing bc why else would there be a trilogy about her, and the fact that there were five factions and i could only find four of them kind of relevant?? and the whole of the second book... everything about this trilogy is so predictable i was just bored out of my mind the whole time

anyway i have read books i liked where the plot was... let's just say less than stellar. but at least it was well written. these books aren't imo - maybe it's your style, maybe you like it idk but i really couldn't stand it

But what did you like about the first book? Maybe I've forgotten things I actually did like because of the two other books
