Song Of The Summer: TXT Interviewed

The world of K-pop and international pop music come together in an epic collaboration that promises to be the anthem of the summer. K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER, consisting of members Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and HueningKai, known for their infectious energy and exceptional talent, have teamed up with the renowned Jonas Brothers to release the exciting song ‘Do It Like That’. Released on July 7, this dynamic collaboration has already won the hearts of fans around the world, amassing over 20 million views in a short time.

Although the Jonas Brothers started their musical journey in 2005, TXT coming onto the scene in 2019, their collaboration ‘Do It Like That’ proves that the essence of both groups uniquely shines through in music. Despite their time difference in the industry, they’ve managed to combine their distinct talents and styles to create a track that reflects their infectious energy and artistic personalities. The Jonas Brothers, with their experience and enduring success, bring a commanding presence and vocal ability to the fray, while TXT add a dose of fresh-faced youthfulness.

This unique collaboration between TXT and the Jonas Brothers not only resulted in an exciting song, but also provided a learning and growing experience for TXT members. When asked about the experience of working with the Jonas Brothers, they enthusiastically shared, “It was a new and fun experience for us to collaborate with another group. Jonas Brothers are amazing vocalists, but more importantly, it was their ease and confidence from years of experience that I wished to take away”, said Yeonjun.

“Do It Like That” not only carries with it an engaging, infectious message, but it’s also inspired by deep emotions, as revealed by HueningKai. “‘Do It Like That’ essentially captures the thrill of falling in love. The infectious melody perfectly reflects the emotions of excitement and bliss that makes it irresistible to dance and sing along to it.” The message behind the song is simple but powerful: seize the moment, indulge in passion and live love intensely.

Produced by Ryan Tedder, Taehyun shared his experience of working with the production impresario: “Ryan was such a great director in the studio that everything went very smoothly and language barriers felt nonexistent.” During recordings and rehearsals of the song, everyone needs a reprieve, even better if it involves food. “We had these delicious burritos while we were in the studio, which I’m still dreaming about”, said HueningKai. 

If you want to listen to good music whilst enjoying the summer breeze, Soobin would definitely recommend ‘Do It Like That’. “With its energetic yet breezy sound, I’d like to say it has the potential to be the song of the summer. It’s a track that blends both groups’ vocals seamlessly, and I’d recommend it to anyone going on a tropical vacation.”

With the release of this collaboration, fans can get ready to listen to it live and have fun with their friends. “Including our return to Lollapalooza as well as our remaining tour in Asia, we have a lot of exciting windows coming up for the rest of the year, so I have a feeling we’ll be able to enjoy ‘Do It Like That’ live on stage with our MOA pretty soon!”, said Beomgyu. 

Asked about the chemistry between TXT and Jonas Brothers, Soobin expressed: “It was our first time meeting Jonas Brothers, but we had great chemistry from the get-go and everything from recording the track to shooting content went better than expected. We also really appreciated their enthusiasm to shoot a variety of content, which made the experience even more enjoyable for us.”

Debut album 'A Blaze Of Feather' was produced by Nat Wason on Cornwall's west coast, sessions soundtracked by the "raging Atlantic".

Mickey explains:

 "The songs that form this self-titled debut LP were sparked amongst the Winter storms that haunt the west coasts of Ireland and Cornwall. Touring and living on the road away from family can take their toll and it's only after you return you really know the cost. Each one of us walks our own thread of sanity. For myself, the strange hope of fatherhood flickers amongst the shadows of grief and memories of loved ones lost."

"I count myself lucky to play in a band that offers sanctuary on many levels and shape shifts so instinctively together. It's a rare understanding to share and something we don't take for granted. This past year has spun by so fast we weren't at all ready to match its pace, but we've rolled on as best we can. We have only just finished recording this record, most tracks were put down live and spontaneously. Now we are standing back and taking a look at the whole picture."
