Alan D Brewer, 88, of Cornersville, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Williamson Medical Center.
He was a native of Lockport, NY, born On May 24, 1932, the son of the late Earl D. Brewer and the late Mildred Few Brewer. He was an active member of the Cornersville First Baptist Church.
Al was called to the ministry in 1951 and attended Bob Jones University, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Theological Seminary. He served in the ministry for several years after which he worked in the insurance business along with being a consultant for Lifeway.
Al developed several gardens at their home in Franklin, where they lived for twenty years. Upon their move to Cornersville, they developed four large terraced gardens which was the home for over 1,500 varieties of day lilies. To say Al loved flowers and working with them would be an understatement.
Al loved the Lord, his family, his church, and growing and working with day lilies in that order. He loved using his spiritual gifts of; encouragement, giving, and teaching. His prayer for you today would be: if you do not know the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, today is the perfect time to come to that realization.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara T. Larson Brewer in 2017.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Ann (Keith) Davis, Cornersville and Kristine Marie (Leroy) Bizzell, Franklin; four grandchildren, Meaghan Marie Bizzell, Ryan Keith (Hannah) Davis, Jr., Rachel Ann Davis, Ashley Blake (Ryan) Churchill; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Grace Davis.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 11 a.m. from Lone Oak Cemetery Lewisburg, TN 37091 and burial followed in Lone Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marshall County Cancer Society, c/o Sandy Henson, 1883 Verona Caney Road, Lewisburg, TN 37091.

ALICE LOUISE WEISEMAN, 81, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born in Pennsylvania, Alice was the daughter of the late Stanley and Gladness Cotterell. Alice attended Bob Jones University for the 1955-56 school year.
She was a third grade teacher for 30 years, mostly in Naperville, Ill.. Alice loved playing the piano, reading, being on the water, her dogs, and spending time with her sister, and family, and friends.
Surviving are her sons, Jay (Alyssa) Weiseman and Matt (Kerry) Erickson; grandson, Cooper David Lee Weiseman; and sister, June (Robert) Wyne. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, J. David Weiseman.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at FairHaven Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with calling from 11 a.m. until the service. Memorials may be made to Destiny Rescue or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
SOUTH BEND — The Rev. Darrell Ray Bice, 85 of South Bend, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Raymond A. Bice and Ruth M. Bushman.
He is survived by his children, Darrell Bice of Elgin, Illinois, Bryan (Chris) Bice of Sterling, Illinois, Douglas (Linda) Bice of Loves Park, Illinois and Cindy Bice of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Darrell earned his bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University in 1956 and was a retired pastor most recently serving at Faith Baptist Church in Elkhart.
After his retirement he worked security for Bethel College and the South Bend Airport.
Visitation for Darrell will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Private graveside services will follow in Rice Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to the Library Fund at Faith Baptist Church in Sterling, Illinois.
Rev. Robert Benjamin “Bob” Rooks August 1929 - November 2018
Rancho Bernardo--Rev. Bob Rooks died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, with his family by his side on November 20, 2018. He was 89 years young. He joined his beautiful bride, Peggy, and his Lord and Savior in Heaven early that morning.
He was the pastor of six churches in California, including the First Baptist Church of Poway and served as an interim pastor at numerous churches. Bob was an accomplished pianist, teaching himself to play in his teenage years. He had a unique style on the piano and blessed many over the years through his music! Bob had a great sense of humor and had a joke for every occasion. Bob was a native of northeastern Georgia and a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC in the Class of 1956, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He also served in the US Army during the Korean War prior to attending college.
He is survived by his son, Jon (Jill); daughter, Jan; and grandchildren, Brett and Kelly Rooks and Hayley Heffron, all of San Diego; his 102-year old sister, Martha Jones, of Atlanta, GA, and many other extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.at Bethel Baptist Church of Escondido, CA. Richard Bell Prochnow was promoted to glory on Sunday, March 17th, from Evergreen Woods Rehab in Spring Hill, Florida.
He was born May 10, 1930, in Bloomington, IL to the late Edith and Herman Prochnow. He married his loving wife Maxine Berry on June 19, 1959 in Bloomington, Illinois. God gave them three children Dee Ann, Todd and Jeff; and five grandchildren and three great-grand children.
He received his education at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a preacher of the gospel for over 50 years and was honored by Bob Jones University with the Doctor of Divinity degree in 1982 and held pastorates in Illinois and Florida from 1957-2004.
He retired from Berea Baptist Church, Palm Harbor, Florida after a 23 year ministry. He had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Jubilaires the quartet ministered in many churches and camps as well as a six-month ministry in Europe.
He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. A visitation will be held 10am Saturday, March 23, at East Lawn Funeral Home 1102 Airport Road in Bloomington, Illinois. A funeral service to follow at 11am.
Memorials may be given to Bob Jones University and the mission program at Grace Independent Baptist Church in honor of Dr. Prochnow. A memorial service will be held in Brooksville, Florida at a later date.
Greenville - The Rev. Doctor Paul Gunter Settle, 82, servant of God, husband of Mary B. Aiken Russell Settle, died Monday, March 19, 2018 in Greenville, SC. He was predeceased by his first wife, Georgia Brown Settle. Born March 26, 1935 in Charleston, WV, son of Paul Cochran and Ruth Gunter Settle, he attended WV University, graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, in 1956 and from Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA. Ordained to the gospel ministry by Kanawha Presbytery in July 1959, he served as a Presbyterian pastor for almost 50 years before being retired by North Texas Presbytery (PCA) in February 2007. Presbyterian churches served were the Winfield and Pliny congregations in Putnam Co., WV; Trinity in Montgomery, AL; Coral Ridge in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Northside in Burlington, NC; Second in Greenville, SC; Park Cities in Dallas, TX; and Christ in Flower Mound, TX. He served as an executive for conservative organizations whose efforts culminated in the formation of the Presbyterian Church in America in 1973. He was Coordinator of the Christian Education Ministry of the PCA, Director of Ministries at the Ridge Haven Conference Center (PCA) in Rosman, NC, Pastor-at-Large of North Texas Presbytery (PCA) and adjunct professor of Westminster Theological Seminary, Dallas, TX. Settle lectured in a number of seminaries and served on the boards of numerous Christian organizations. Published writings include articles in professional magazines and several books: Changeless Truth in a Changing World - Meditations on the Westminster Confession of Faith; Memory Word Notebook; Studies in the Catechism; A Time to Die; and To God All Praise and Glory, the 25th Anniversary History of the PCA. He was listed in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges (1955-1956), The Dictionary of International Biography (1970), Who's Who in Religion in America (1976). He served as moderator of the Eighth General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America in 1980 and was honored for significant services to Christ and His Church by the thirty-seventh General Assembly in 2008. He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Westminster Theological Seminary in 2013. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul David Settle (Shirley), of Greenville; a daughter, Jo Lynne Sprouse, of Waynesville, NC; two sisters, Dorrie Settle Lee (Ted), of St. Petersburg, FL, and Joe Ellen Settle Rast, of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Shelby Emerson (Matt) and Carly Sprouse; and a great granddaughter, Norah Emerson; four stepsons; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. A private interment will be held at Graceland East Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC. Sun City - Barbara Maxwell Roe-Snow, 81, of Sun City, passed away May 16, 2018, at home following a valiant battle with cancer and COPD. She may have succumbed to cancer and COPD but they never defeated her spirit. She was born February 14, 1937, in Miami, Fl., the daughter of Hershel and Clara Maxwell. Barbara graduated from high school in Atlanta, Georgia. Following high school Barbara attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina in the 1955-56. Barbara worked as a motivational instructor, she loved to help people find the best in themselves, she never met a person she didn't like. To know Barbara was to love her. She is survived by her husband Rick, her sister Jeanie and Jeanie's husband John, her three sons (Terry, Mike and Jon), nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends.
