this is like the callback to the ending of the 1st season, where although mostly portrayed as a shadowy sinister hero figure throughout the series, in the end, Ayanokoji sees people as 'tools', or rather that's how his psyche works. He gains Ichinose's trust yet if she turns out useless, he will crush her. also he calls Karuizawa a 'book' to be read and discarded...but he still falls in love and hopes to understand these feelings...the shackles of White Room are fading away...btw was the convo with the Director a hint to Yagami!? not a LN reader but heard of him so pretty excited for S4!!
