            ‘This is where I do think Democrats have a bit of a blind spot the way we talk about the issue. We talk about the planet which makes it sound very vague and abstract. When I think about climate change I think about what happened about a year ago when I got up in the middle of the night realizing the rain wasn’t stopping.           

             Two hours later I was in an emergency operations center with our first responding personal and we realized we were getting seven, eight inches of rain. The record was three. The result was people lost their homes. Their homes were destroyed. Their basements washed out and they were displaced the night before the first day of school. That is climate change. That is what it looks like and feels like.’

Okay this is when he was running for state treasurer back in the day and about five minutes in he talks about setting up a helpline to his office so people can report issues with their bank so if there is a pattern he can USE THE OFFICE and the power of the state’s deposits to make the giant bank corporation treat people better!

Think about that. Nine years ago he was talking about using the power of the government to make corporations not be evil??? And then putting a stop to the revolving door between government employee and lobbyist?

Look at this little bby politician talking about running for State Treasurer and then BOOM veers off into an economic small business loan/jobs program???? Put together out of basically nothing to use the power of the office to ~encourage~ banks to make low-interest loans to small business people.

It’s not possible to bully a multi-billion dollar corporation but by linking the States’ willingness to do business with the bank directly to the banks’ willingness to make low-interest loans to small business people...good things can happen.

It’s not spending any of the taxpayer’s money by throwing the weight of the office around. Remember that scene in Parks and Rec when the intimidating guy tells them Leslie Knope gets all the favors she wants because she uses them to help other people?

This guy has been planning executive policy to help other people since... a long time now. This was nine years ago! He’s 28! I couldn’t manage a loaf of bread when I was 28 and this beautiful land-mermaid is making plans on how to leverage any speck of government power he can get in order to help people and grow the economy and support small business.
