Poster Beds/Canopy Beds can be seen right from the beginnings - from the time of Cleopatra and Ajanta Cave Paintings. In fact, the word canopy was coined around the 1300s and has roots in Greek for "bed with mosquito curtains". It was only in the times of Queen Anne when the height was reduced for accessibility as the designs became lighter and smaller than the earlier ones.
